The minority groups around me all get along and I don't hear of them getting any real negative effect from being in a minority. I guess most people on here come from a reasonably educated, well heeled and 'safe' environment. If you go probing you will probably find some example of when people have suffered some kind of disadvantage - and for minorities you are probably always a little more worried than for the majority. Then try talking to those not from your demographic. The difference is stark. Constant problems and issues related partly to race and partly to housing class which often overlaps with race. This particularly affects schooling, housing and employment. It doesn't take much looking into if you own Mr Google. You just have to know to go looking. So listen to some of your minority friends before writing this stuff off. In any case, even if it were overblown (which I don't think it is) what's the harm in a regular reminder that we should always seek to be fair to all and make sure everyone has a leg up if they need it? Edited by Mapletree (15 Jun 2020 12.15pm) I’ve replied on the correct thread instead of the West Ham friendly thread where you posted this. People become more concerned and indeed move out when they send their children to school. There isn’t an issue with black kids in predominantly white schools. In fact London is becoming a capital of black families and office professionals without children or children of pre-school age. Croydon central and north now has problems the inner city areas have.

There has always been plenty of short term immigration to do seasonal farm work here, and there are a surprisingly large number of eastern Europeans now working both in agriculture and fishing. Jobs which ought to be done by locally born people but who don't seem willing these days to take them on. But you weren’t talking about seasonal jobs. You said year round employment. I’m suggesting Cornwall adopts the London model. Of course it will mean abandoning traditional attitudes and way of life but that’s apparently a good thing.

Indeed, I never thought that Johnson was part of the problem before.....though, if I remember correctly he also spoke with sympathy for their cause....which I find amazing. No such sympathy for those incensed by how our statues and monuments had been treated....much as I disagreed with them going down there, it made me sick to my stomach to hear a Tory leader appease like that and use the left's talking points. Edited by Mapletree (15 Jun 2020 12.15pm) I agree with a lot of what you are saying here insofar as those with decent jobs integrate without a problem and the interactions with the rest of the population is generally convivial. What you go on to describe is the poverty gap which is countrywide and not restricted to race. Wherever there are poor areas of a City there are problems which are tough to resolve. I am not disputing there are issues but I don’t see that they are solely related to racism. There are plenty of white families with identical problems.

Having clashed with English Heritage, admittedly well over 10 years ago, then if they are now effectively bending the knee to Identity Dogma then we are much nearer Year 0 than people realise. Because in my dealings with them it was like banging your head against the most obstinate foundry brick walls. And that was over a shade of paint we wanted to use on a window frame. Obstinate to the point of it being almost psychotic. If they are willing to start smashing s*** up, it is game over.

This all just demonstrates what some of us have been saying for years. I expect this kind of stuff from Labour but the Tories are reaching a new low for pandering.

I think this what is the most galling. We vote these people in to listen to the minority but to serve the majority otherwise it wouldn’t be a democracy. I was thinking of going up to London Saturday but glad I didn’t now. To get tarred with that brush just for being there is disgraceful. Yes there were some right wing idiots there but from what I’ve seen they did not represent the majority of those present.

The real underlying problem are the white liberals....most of whom are hypocrites anyway. John Lennon's 'Imagine' song was recorded nearly fifty years ago....This is their belief system. These morons have been running the systems for generations. This is their society and all the mess and discord within it comes from their half baked and non workable ideas and policies. Yet they point at those whites without power and blame them. Edited by Stirlingsays (15 Jun 2020 7.39pm)
