Along with Monk and Hodgson it would be the most uninspiring of appointments and would be a confirmation to the footballing world that we have no aspirations beyond bottom third, with a continuous flirt with relegation. We really should be looking beyond the likes Dyche in our fifth season. What sort of players do you suppose will be queueing around the block to join a Dyche-led team? I share some of your concerns but Dyche is highly thought of within the game. Not always the best recommendation I know. He will have a bigger budget with us and will be seen I suppose as a step up (albeit a small one) for him, while we are investing in a young British manager. If it is Dyche, then maybe it is because stability has to come first. If in three seasons he moves on, we can look at experimenting with a foreign coach. I am sure Dwight Yorke will complain that he wasn't given a shot Edited by Y Ddraig Goch (01 Jun 2017 9.09pm)

Apologies if this is old ground but the bookies' second favourite at 3/1 (when I last looked) is Woy Hodgson. According to Mr Parish's criteria, Woy is totally lacking in any respect for the type of manager needed. I wonder why the odds on Woy are so frighteningly low...perish the thought?

No, not Fulham built on Fayed's fortunes. Stoke, anyone? Dyche isn't that much different in attractiveness to Pulis. Now I don't particularly 'want' Dyche but I can see why it might be him, which is why I put money on him a week ago at 8/1. I'm happy to not win the money but happier to see our club establish ourselves for many years in the top division.

I would love dyce at palace after mancini want to psg his english knows the league with burnley would have a better budget at palace apparently he wants to come but only thing with dyce would he be here for the long term or would he use as as a stepping stone to a bigger club in a couple of years but apart from that he would be my choice definitely

Probably latest money being placed was more on Hodgson. Not now though. After that article it's Monk 3/1

In 24 hours we've negotiated his release, signed at least heads of terms with him and with Burnley, he's resigned, and we've (decided to) hand over £1m? Never mind everything Parish said about doing this properly, the investors ratifying the decisions, considering a number of people on the shortlist, etc etc all of which suggested nothing would be done in haste. Oh, and two days ago we were in "advanced talks" with Woy.

After that article it's Monk 3/1 You're looking at the longest odds there, the web engine obviously trying to find the most generous offer for you as a putative punter. Others are still doing Pellegrino and Woy at 3 / 1, Dyche at 5 / 4 and Monk at 2 / 1. None of it makes any real sense, you would think if one price came in the others would go out, and so on. But then Bayesian probability theory was never my strong suit.
