I refuse to believe that you don't understand how short term holiday jobs are filled by students and others. It has nothing to do with the retired people being happy. It's the local working-age people who need year-round employment. Why not import a few hundred thousand people to do the jobs? It’s been a great success in the rest of the country.

Yeah. probably both sides letting off a bit of steam, although a hot weekend would certainly light the touchpaper so to speak, all the prolonged riots have been on hot days and nights, and i guess when the two factions meet you could call it a riot! unlikely that will happen will be back alley skirmishes 90 percent of the people on either side are more about posturing then scrapping bit s***e really. The footy lads that are game will be found out early and followed until kettled and the main lot on the otherside will pussy foot around and keep running away until they're attacking old men or small groups of lads with overwhelming numbers who may not of even been at the protests.

Ah, ok, well roll on the football season then, and season after soon to follow, maybe the second coming of the virus will come and quell the tension, or like you said, maybe people getting up and out every morning will be enough, except for the die hards!

I am glad to be able to agree with you. I loath the way people are described as "black" or "white". We are all people. Using these descriptions, which is commonplace everywhere, even on official census forms, seems to me to perpetuate the very problem that needs to be eradicated. There are good or bad people. Call them out for what they are. Don't taint others by association. Black lives DON'T matter. ALL lives matter. That would be a much better title for any movement which seeks to address racism and inequality. I totally agree, by asking for ethnicity in census forms are they not encouraging a divide. What is the purpose, presumably to show that particular area is multi- cultural. I have, several times on here stated that all lives matter but apparently that is deemed to be undermining BLM. Do BLM think no other lives matter? I am confused as to why saying all lives matter is wrong

I am confused as to why saying all lives matter is wrong I have read and heard that the presumption from blm is that people think black lives matter less. In certain times and even now in some countries that may have and is the case I guess. If their slogan was black lives matter equally then it really puts a slant that no one can disagree with. One word would change the whole psychological perception that this group feels it is special. That though would deviate from their main goal of what I think is to destabilise the western way of operating. We all know it isnt perfect and some people do perpetuate that black white divide but not from what I see and am around. If the counter protesters are always called far right by all left thinking persuasions then how can there be any middle ground for discussion. Albeit some protesters are far right there is also far left but never put in the same sentence from the media.

There has always been plenty of short term immigration to do seasonal farm work here, and there are a surprisingly large number of eastern Europeans now working both in agriculture and fishing. Jobs which ought to be done by locally born people but who don't seem willing these days to take them on.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Of course there is an element of “locals” not wanting to do the jobs, same everywhere. However as was seen a couple of months ago, many British people applied for farm work but very few were offered the jobs. The pay and conditions are poor, normally have to live on site, sharing a caravan with 4-5 others you may not know. Many farmers also take lodging out of wages. A poor wage here is probably a good wage in Romania or Bulgaria. Not having a go at them, good luck to them it’s hard work, but in a lot of cases of Brits it was a case of not being wanted

One of my cousin's sons (17 and fit) went for a fruit picking job during lockdown and was turned down. That cousin...who is very much a normie....had her eyes upened a bit.
