I can't see how this could be a fair trial.

Racist Britain, or maybe not. I am not surprised that this inquiry decided that Britain is not institutionally racist. It did find there is racism e.g. social media and that there is deprivation. As many of us have argued though the opportunities are there if somebody is prepared to work hard and get the qualifications they will succeed. For me the real issue is not black people being denied jobs or promotion but the educational failure of black boys especially. This is the issue that needs to be tackled not virtue signally taking a knee. The celebs need to convince black boys that "school is cool". Edited by Badger11 (31 Mar 2021 7.55am)

When you hear the recent KFC advert on the radio and that girl (young woman) talk on the advert, you can understand a bit more about why some will never get a chance. The way she says ‘’Big deal. Online. Apply.’’ Dear me. I bet girls practice and want to copy this, just like the rap culture which gets carried into adulthood long term. Being accepted in your teenage social circle does not mean accepted professionally in adulthood, but it means everything to be in a group as a teenager. But it’s here to stay and stay separated from professional working environments, except when required to advertise it or make some music or urban tv.

Edited by Badger11 (31 Mar 2021 7.55am) David Lammy being a good example. Born in Tottenham, presumably not being whisked off to private school and out of the State system, and progressing to Harvard and being a qualified barrister from what I gather. A shining example of what can be achieved. It's a shame that negativity outweighs the positivity, but that is a human characteristic across millions, regardless of colour.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

It matters how you sound. In my experience and opinion it matters more than visually. Edited by Rudi Hedman (31 Mar 2021 9.44am)

I worked with a west Indian guy and his thick accent was so very obviously genuine. After a while and actually asking what he just said a few times I got to understand all of what he was saying. He was never offended by me asking BTW and appreciated me not being a nodding dog. My point is its so easy to spot a genuine accent from a fake one done for image. These kids need to be themselves as the future will chew them up and spit them out.

And this is why the police are sometimes too quick on the draw, easy for people to say why didn't the police wait, didn't have to shoot him...... Edited by Badger11 (11 Apr 2021 2.23pm)
