My view on Roy is he should see this this season out and then we get some fresh eyes to take the team over. But it sounds like he wants to carry on after this season. Last nights performance was exactly what you would expect from his team, the only thing missing was a goal. Look he has taken points off Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham and Leicester recently, you can’t sack someone for doing that especially after the schedule we have had, which has been beyond ridiculous. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but did we just play 4 games in 7 days? Our last 4 games were on 28/12, 2/1,8/1 and 14/1.

There's lots of chat and assumption about an overhaul of the squad and bringing in a new manager to oversee this. However, recent evidence regarding our ownership and transfer spend would suggest that this is not likely to be the case and the changes are likely to be more evolutionary IMO.
I'm not saying that I would necessarily welcome such an extension but unless the board have another manager lined up for the summer, I don't see Hodgson leaving. As for players, there won't be many leaving imo. At most I'd reckon on Wickham, Hennessey and Sakho, and the Batshuayi offer to buy NOT being taken up and that would leave us short of strikers, but then we haven't had a proper striker for some time, so I can see us making do with Benteke, Ayew, Zaha (and Schlupp up front if needed). We might bring in a young striker if the price isn't exorbitant. Meanwhile I see that young Rob Street (a U23s striker) has gone out on loan to Torquay. Edited by doombear (15 Jan 2021 10.45pm)

Like someone said a while back. Roy could take a 20th place team and take them to 15th, or a 10th place team and take them to 15th... but only for a couple of seasons. Eventually the players get fatigued of Roy's methods the club he's in charge of run out of steam, that's happened already. I don't think its a disrespectful observation of Roy, most managers only last a couple of years before things need to be freshened up. We have Roy's best ever squad. His words. We should be looking at a bit more than just getting by, otherwise we will stagnate, and stagnation is death at this level. Very few managers each generation can manage to keep things progressing for longer. We picked up 35 points in 2020 and we are declining. His best squad while being here is seeing us sitting very comfortably in this league, why not just enjoy our transition and look forward to who's taking over and the players the new chap could be bringing in, you appear to me to be making your life quite miserable for no reason whatsoever.

Riedewald covered PVA's position extremely ably before Mitchell came on the scene; I don't think we need to worry about lack of cover. His mind is attack not defend, he would've been good for Pardew. We should keep him and restrict his movements.

Anyone wanting Roy out can think again, he will see this season out and possibly start the next now. He gets the squad organised and we should have beaten Arsenal last night. We are definitely looking more solid now at the back with Tomkins and Mitchell returning. Thought the young left back is starting to settle and apart from one ball he gave away in a dangerous position played really well. What’s more he can cross the ball too. Roy just needs to let a couple of more youngsters to come through the ranks and get some game time, and it will be job done. The reason we look better against Arsenal was more to do with the way Arsenal play, they gave us more space to move and we gave them the same back, the teams that don't allow us to settle anywhere on the pitch with or without the ball we and the likes of Arsenal struggle like hell, they will have better all round results though because their players as a squad have better ability.

That you are somehow linking a poster on this forum who has differing views to our manager than you and saying it’s affecting his personal life? Idiot. You are a very sad individual. The way you talk to people Where’s the block button. Edited by MonsterMunch (16 Jan 2021 4.10pm)

Seriously! You use the words "petulant child" for Wilf yet you want a new squad and a new manager. Have a word with yourself. Huh...?? When did I say I wanted a new squad - I said Roy was underachieving with the current squad..?? As for "petulant child" in respect of Zaha - so kicking the ball into the side hoardings (which he should have got booked for), spending a minute remonstrating with Ref over a non foul and not concentrating on the game and then rearing up at Luiz after he apologised for accidentally catching him with his knee to the point he had to be dragged away by Townsend ain't petulant and childish..?? Look Wilf is now 28 and one of the senior players in the Team and still he ain't learning - his antics are becoming a liability and often detract from his own performance as they did on Thursday. That's my point..!! So "I've had a word with myself" and that's my opinion..!! Still find your response rather odd..!! COYP
