If everything goes to hell in a handbasket and the EU become more popular then I suspect you'll get your second referendum....especially since, if they get in, a Labour government would probably hold one regardless.

I just love the way people say we shall be running our own country. Wait and see. Other people's rules will not only carry on affecting us, we shall have less say in the setting of those rules. This is the big fallacy of the whole discussion. I guarantee you our international companies will either bend the knee or get hit by fine after fine. We are no longer in a position to consider ourselves independent. You may want to consider the discussion of a similar nature between Preobrazhensky and Stalin. The rest of the world will come and get you. I thought the whole strategy of parliament was to give the EU the impression that we were negotiating a deal in good faith with every intention of crashing out in a no deal scenario to give the EU as little time to prepare for no deal and also try and make the EU look like the bad guys. This would then lead to the civil contingency act being invoked and so called Henry VIII to give Parliament the ability to basically change as much legislation as they want using extended powers. This will, quite scarily, leave us running our own country but at the whim of a handful of people in power. Unfortunately for them, the EU has out manoeuvred them with their responses to the extension and ability to put the onus back on the UK. I could be wrong though.

Incidentally you haven't mentioned Rees-Mogg for at least 24 hours. well done

I did smile whilst watching the one o'clock News when Katya Adler said that Mrs May had returned to the UK and Macron and Merkel would be giving press conferences later on. Anyone would think that the EU was actually a Franco German State as it seems that despite all members having an equal voice some are more equal than others - now where have I heard that before
