This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave I've regularly travelled to games from various parts of the country over the years to get to home games. I have to say that most London grounds are bad to get to and Selhurst is a pain. By public transport its served well once you get there, but which ever way you come from you pretty much have to change and take a stopper . There's no hotels near by. Driving is a nightmare. To get to most provincial grounds you can get the train to a mainline station or come off the motorway and follow signs to the stadium.

It's true, our ground is outdated but anyone calling for a new stadium with zero heart or soul is quite frankly missing what football is about. I love selhurst. I love that it is in a residential part of town. I love all the pubs around it. I love that the station 'crystal palace' is miles away from it. It's a terrific place. Just ask West Ham if moving is all it's cut out to be. I sometimes picked my wife up from Crystal Palace station of a mid-week evening. If Palace were playing at Selhurst, there was always a group of northern monkies getting off the train. There's a taxi office right outside Crystal Palace station, and I reckon they made a huge amount on taking away fans to Selhurst Park.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Birmingham got caught out there, hundreds of em, had to walk to the ground, maybe in fancy dress, can2t remember!

Ive never understood this remark, granted, a popular one and said many times over the years. You got East and west Croydon as overground and Railway hubs of south London, one can get to norwood junction quite easily, most trains stop there from London bridge or from east or west Croydon. Plenty of off street parking, mostly free in side roads, there is also Selhurst station that is sometimes connected to trains to and from London Victoria, then you have plenty of coach parking on the Holmesdale for away fans coming in by coach. Then you got all manor of Uber drivers just gagging for a online booking in and around the vincinity. you got a natural helipad on the selhurst park pitch. you got biggin hill if you have a private jet. you got all manor of space for teleportation if you have managed to invent it. you got paths for walking to and from, if walking is your thing you got air bnb and booking.com if you fancy coming down a day early and kipping over.
Totally agree. Really p****s me off about how difficult it is. Is it any worse than Emirates? where you have no chance of parking. The Amex very limited parking 1 station? Add to the above JustPark where residents rent their parking spaces (used several times but not at Palace)
