I was kinda hoping that seen as how Wilf is a dead cert to leave in the summer we would be looking to get a replacement for him now rather than later and integrate him into the squad and give him playing time or use him as a sub for Wilf . Im beginning to think its not the Palace way .

My feeling is that they will use Edouard on the left wing.

Couple of players that have been linked with other clubs and could fit the profile:

Dango Ouattara at Lorient - 20yr old forward, a bit Wilf like. 2nd senior season has 5 goals and 5 assists. Could be worth moving for a Wilf replacement early. Or getting this guy in so Wilf can play up top.

Forrest apparently after Danilo, a DM from Palmeiras. Only 21 but with bag of experience. Looks tenacious in the tackle and can pick a pass.

That seems likely with him coming inside and playing off Eze.

We seem to be the only club that is not strongly linked to any signings. This is going to be a miserable window once again.

I've liked Elanga when I've seen him play for United. Very quick and seems to work hard. Now out of favour so he could be available on loan, with there even being talk of him being available for around £18m. Could possibly take Wilf's place on the left if/when he leaves.

It is early days, but why the surprise at the lack of news etc ?? Better surely that if anything is happening behind the scenes, however unlikely, that it is not shouted from on high !
Hoping for a solid one but not counting on much as we don't really do transfer windows.
I will naturally get shouted down for that last comment, but the bus that can be driven through the counter argument is that the freak £100M spending of summer 2021 came courtesy of Mr Textor who now favours funding Lyon, not the esteemed Mr Parish and the 2 American investors who appear not to want to.
This got us out of a proper hole as we had a large number of players out of contract then and we will learn from that and it won't happen again in a close season, oh hang on..........
After 10 seasons and hopefully 11 for next year in the 'Greed is good' League and all its attendant riches we will probably get outspent by Brentford and Bournemouth.

Every team that wishes to stay in the Premier League has to spend money and whilst we don't need to spend as much as Bournemouth we do need to buy or loan a decent central midfield player and Parish who claims to know a bit about football must see that

There’s not much to go on in terms of information so far.
We know from recent interviews that Vieira has said that he would like additions to provide competition and that Parish has said it’s a difficult window with perhaps a couple of loans being the extent of our activity.
That’s about in terms of concrete info, and we don’t even seem to be linked with players through stories placed by agents seeking to generate interest in their clients.
The AWB and Gallagher stories are a rehash of last summer’s news and could have some legs, but there would have to be quite a few hurdles to overcome for either to come off.
The Ings rumour is a strange one.
Roy definitely liked him, but that was a few years ago.
He’s a reliable goal scorer but injury prone and at an age and on wages which seem to fall outside our current transfer strategy.
I suppose a loan could appeal if that was available , but I’m sure there would be competition as he’s a tried and trusted goal scorer at this level.

I should have thought that all of our Premiership managers said that they wanted strengthening in transfer windows but actions speak louder than words and our esteemed owner currently appears to feel that a ‘couple of loans’ are needed. Somewhat less than what is needed in reality.

Not being facetious but will we even replace Wilf when he goes? I can well see Edouard pushed out wide with Mateta up top and any money we do have being earmarked for a central midfielder.

Furthermore, Parish is keen to see the Academy producing 1st team players ASAP and the pressure may well be put on PV and his team to give proper chances next season to one or more of the likes of Gordon, Ozoh, Balmer, Adamarola, Phillips and Rak-Sakyi.

Financially, I suspect Parish's focus is on money for the New Stand.
