Personally, I'd leave Benteke at Liverpool. Most clubs who've recently bought a player that the new manager doesn't rate are willing to take a loss in order to sell him on. I don't like them playing hardball with us. No, I don't have other names to suggest instead but paying full whack for a player they don't want is bollocks.

We have less than three weeks to sign at least one striker and 'til the end of August to sign two. As it stands, we'll be starting the season with just Wickham and Campbell, so yes, we are that desperate and every selling club knows it.

I would say any club who has only Wickham and Cambell is up shyte creak without a paddle.

But Benteke is not the answer at that price. what about Shane Long ?

We also need a goal scoring CM in my humble opinion.

Personally I would look into a deal for edin dzeko, has prem exeprience or even islam slimani from s Lisbon both players suit our style. Whether there cheaper than benteke remains to be seen.

As far as I am concerned, Palace under CPFC2010 is all about iterations. I am not going to get all dewy-eyed or rose tinted, but surely we can all see that things are going in the right direction?

Gayle wasn't going to fire us into the top half of the table - I loved the bloke, but he lacked the quality in front of goal. Berahino has the quality infront of goal, but seems a bit highly strung and Benteke is proven to improve a team that is not all that great (i.e. Villa).

Either would be brilliant, but if we don't get them, then we are hardly going to go too far into the season with two strikers.
