A little-known player we had on trial last season, I forget his first name, but know what it begins with, D. Ictionary was his name. Useful, didn't do enough to make it for Dowie though. Also cant create threads in gold talk. My Favourite player though is Aki

Hopkin got us promoted no question but Ray Houghton was a grafter for the full 90 minutes. I saw Klinsman take the ball off him near the centre circle and ray run back and got it back off him, passed it downfield and Salako or Dyer nearly scored. He got the goal in the world cup that beat Italy in USA. Ray Houghton: resume below Houghton picked up another FA Cup winners' medal with Liverpool in 1992 and then left for Aston Villa, with whom he won another League Cup in 1994. In the summer of that year, he again was in the Irish squad for the World Cup in the USA and once again was the goalscoring hero in a shock victory, looping a shot into the net to defeat Italy in a group game. Ireland went out to The Netherlands in the second round. When Ireland were eventualy defeated I have a lasting memory of an irish supporter up a lampost singing "que sar sara, what ever will be will be, at least we beat Italy, que sara sara" He played for Ireland until 1997, ending with 73 caps. His club career took in spells with Crystal Palace and Reading before he retired. Houghton is now in demand as a pundit on the game, working for outlets such as RTÉ in Ireland and talkSPORT and Sky Sports in the UK.

I'm younger generation, so the best palace player I've been fortunate to see every week is definitely johnson, with Lombardo as close second.
