I think the phrase

It seems there is doubt over Lybia's involvement in Lockerbie:

[Link]

Gadaffi accepted responsibilty so sanctions would be removed from Lybia, paving the way for his return to the international fold.

Although a dictator, he is no worse than many present or former national leaders (eg House of Saud, Pinochet etc).

Having said that, I think this does turn CPFC into a joke yet again. Can you hear those fans of other teams taking the piss out of us?

How dare you! How long ago makes absolutely no difference, that is possibly one of the most immature things I have heard said on this topic, and believe me, there are quite a few.

I have no idea who you are, how old you are etc and if you are going to dismiss Gadaafi's terrorist reputation on the basis of how long ago this atrocity occurred, then I have no interest in you or what you have to say.

A quote from a Lockerbie victims website:
"Not every body aboard the plane died from the explosion. 8 passengers did. Or maybe they didn't die from the explosion after all. Maybe they were sucked into engine 3 and vaporated. We simply don't know. The 8 bodies are missing and not accounted for. They were all sitting in rows 23 to 28 in the economy section, just above the blast section."

I daren't ask how you would feel if that was one of your relatives/friends.

You should be ashamed of yourself

Thinking beyond the obvious, this is quite a good news. This news will help jack up the price of the club and then we can find another buyer.

While I agree with some of you who mention that that Colonel's money would come in handy, I for one do not believe that will help the club's fortunes. When the owners provide good some cash they interfere a lot in the proceedings of the club. Worse happens when they think they know a bit about the game more than other do. There is no patience in building a team for the future. The club is not built on sound business principles and collapses as soon as the owner withdraws due to financial problems in his other areas of business.

CP does need fund, but this year it is too late. I think this year CP has to be left alone and has to survive. Then we will start attracting players and investors. In the meanwhile no publicity is bad and in fact we need to have more of intrigue and controversies and magical moments. Anything that will help push up the TV ratings of matches involving CP.
regards,
Vikram

Sorry, came late to this thread and have just spent ages reading evryone's comments. However, I too think this will be very very bad for the club. We are on the verge of mid-table obscurioty for a few seasons while ID & Co continue to build. I would accept mid table in the premiership over any more yo-yo seasons. Let us not run before we can walk. Sure, we need investment, but investment with prudence. THere have been too many examples of teams trying to buy success and failing - last season showed the world that Palace have succeeded without throwing mega-bucks at the problem. Long may it continue!

I've set up a discussion thread on this on a Libya discussion forum: [Link]

Maybe we'll get a view from the natives. And perhaps the pissed-off masses on these boards can post on there and let them know what they think.

Who know, perhaps Gadaffi himself is a user and will be swayed by the tidal wave of emotion and pull the plug on any mooted deal...
