Yes, Telegraph this evening talking like it’s pretty much a done deal. Shame, I would have liked to have seen him progress under OG for another season.

Oh well.

I love MG, but with his contract status and the fact that we have shown that we can perform without him, the time is now.

Would love us to bring in Maxence Lacroix as his replacement, also last year of his contract and a player Glasner knows.

I know this is only clickbait, but, there could be a fly in the ointment in the form of Chelsea. It appears there might be a buy-back clause which enables them to match any bid, how true, I have no idea . . . [Link]

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I'm not sure if it's a problem for us. We agree a fee with Newcastle if other clubs wish to match it and Guehi prefers them it shouldn't impact us.

I thought that Chelsea did have the right to match any bid.
However, they are a basket case financially and given that their new Manager won't even see the season out, it would not be a good move if he had to take it!

Chelsea do have a sell on clause though don't they?
So a £60m sale will not all be ours.

So some of the click baiters say. When we bought him I thought it was said that the only sell-on clause was if we sold him Chelsea would have the right to match the highest bid (as was the case when they sold Ake to Bournemouth). But that was a long time ago for an oldie with my memory...

I'm sorry but £60m is nowhere near enough for this player.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

It's a balancing act when there's only 2 years left on the contract. I doubt we could get £60m come January or next Summer so we do need to sell him this window for the optimum fee.

If the rumours are true re the kind of price Newcastle are likely to pay and that's too low, why don't other suitors seem to be lining up bids?

We can forget what Maguire went for. That was Man U paying silly money as they did when they bought AWB from us and that was in the days when clubs didn't think PSR or its equivalent had any teeth.
