I understand the frustration, yes and maybe Roy could have made earlier changes from the bench, but then we have to be honest there is not much on there to choose from on there and the reality is we have very few players who are good enough to play at this level, that is not his fault. The decision to bring Roy back was frankly, I fear, because he was probably the only one that was prepared to accept the job with a virtually zero transfer budget. Sadly no decent Manager will want this job whilst we have a board who think they can do everything on a prayer and fresh air. As it stands it looks highly unlikely that we will survive this year which another reason why we will not attract any good players in the next window or a proven quality Manager. It is what it is and SP is ultimately the person who has to shoulder the blame! Some of this I agree with regarding the squad, the worry is an ex England manager does not seem to the tactical nouse to change things in game. No plan B let alone C and D. He is also so rigid with his selection. Maybe those not in the side are not as good but what is the worst thing that could happen, we lose anyway.

The issue is people dont want the job and the ones that do are no better (WHy would any quality manager want to come to bargain basement club which has players running to chairman with hurt feelings) If we aren't fit enough that's still the manager's fault. I actually think your second paragraph is much nearer the mark though. Our style of play is exhausting, and I don't just mean to watch. You expend far more energy chasing the ball around than you do if you have possession and if you are going to do that, you need to make use of the subs to keep the energy levels up. We just run the same core if players into the ground every game and it's why we get injuries and why we concede late goals.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

It is what it is and SP is ultimately the person who has to shoulder the blame! I can agree with that. It can be the only reason why Roy was kept on as the Club had no funds to entice a younger more modern and ambitious manager. I fear they have now backed themselves into a corner now that they will not want to spend any more than is essential to keep us out of the bottom three because they want funds to entice a new manager in the summer. For me none of this is Roy’s doing but I fear he will be the one that pays the price for poor decision making by the Club.COYP

Was there a turning point when things started to go wrong after our bright start to the season? Despite the mood of gloom, things can turn just as quickly. The darkest hour is just before dawn I retain my trust in Roy.

I thought no penalty as the ref did the Chelsea player bought it, it looked a bit clumsy but that's not enough imo. Brave of Roy to start by pressing but it left acres of space and Chelsea had the pace, I prefer a stronger midfield to get into the game, Eze is a bit of a luxury. No Zaha, the difference for me but that's the realty. Not bad at all we competed all over the pitch. Long way to go yet. COYP
