Yep. Roy’s return and extension was only ever reflective of one thing Well yeah. Roy recognises that a desperate chairman and his money are easily parted.

There's no need for a debate over whether our situation is the fault of the owners or the manager, they are both to blame. The owners had a genuine chance to push us on this summer but the transfer business we conducted was ridiculous. It was the equivalent of my wife asking me to go to Tesco to buy bread and milk and then me coming home with some oven gloves and a set of towels purely because they were marked down. It was buying for the sake of it, rather than necessity. We've ended up replacing Zaha with Schlupp, three right backs who aren't fit for purpose, one left back who has no competition and therefore gets in the team by default, the most expensive reserve keeper in the world and basically we haven't had a good striker since Glenn Murray. Roy said a week or two before the season began that we needed more signings. They didn't come and he then changed his tune to we (the fans) should be delighted with the squad. A younger, hungrier, more ambitious manager would have kicked off about it. Roy toed the line and that's exactly why they wanted him in charge. He is a symptom of the current malaise and frankly why would he care when he's on a one year contract and probably has an eye on retirement? Edited by Canterbury Palace (25 Nov 2023 8.09pm) Yep. Parish got a yes man, and that's what he craves. Pulis and Allardyce weren't that, and when they realised that he was all p!ss and wind they walked.

Sadly I agree with you. The last four performances have been awful, including the win at Burnley. Not sure who is available manager wise but we need to bring a new team in to replace Hodgson and Co. Perhaps Potter is the way forward? Today we needed an improvement on the last few matches and sadly it was awful with even our better players looking under par. Players like Richard’s need to be in the back four, even if it means playing 3 centre backs. Ward is now a liability because of his age and needs replacing. There are others but his position sticks out and has done for a while :-( The way I feel right now if I read tomorrow - Hodgson out and Potter in I would be happy..!!

I've watched Palace since 1968, and find myself with mixed feelings. Parish and the rest of the Board are paupers compared to the money available to the bigger clubs and our transfer spend reflects that. Citeh, Chelski, Sandcastle were rubbish until the money arrived, so get used to making up the numbers, winning nothing and getting relegated at some point in the not too distant future. And before the likes of Brighton get too cocky (and yes they are far better run than us) let's see where they are in 5 years time. As for Roy, great guy, but he should have been let go at the end of last season.

Edited by Canterbury Palace (25 Nov 2023 8.09pm) The owners will respond to your complaints the same way you would respond to your wife's complaints: "Take your own money and go shopping yourself in times like this. You're always nagging anyway, no matter what I do" Apart fron that I share your opinion.

On a positive note. Olive’s goal was magical. He is a generational talent.

How long was the run of fixtures before the rug was pulled on Viera? Hopefully our board will do the same to Roy. He should have gone at the end of last season. Same team, same tactics, same dull football. We need a manager and 4 or 5 additions by close of the January window. Parish is crossing his fingers that there are 3 teams worse than us. Sheff U and Burnley maybe, but it is a risky strategy.

We gave that away . Poor performance as a team and some horrors of individual mistakes leading to goals conceded . Playing poorly against Luton should still be enough for a point ,we managed to go one better and get nothing .

I blame Chris Sutton 100%, the minute he predicted us a win I knew we had no chance.
