Q? Who would you start in place of Schlupp without upsetting the balance & cohesion of the team?

Its a good question but I'd play OE on the left and start with JPM. Question is who do we have to come off the bench and play up front.

In my view Mateta is an impact player. He did very well today against tired defenders. But he was puffing himself by the end. Doesn't have the legs to start in this side.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.

It would seem a shame to shift Edouard away from striker at the very moment he promises to come good (and apart from his 2 goals today he made a number of excellent passes which opened up Wolves). I agree with comments about Schlupp offering very little, but I also think that moving Eze away from his favoured central role would be wrong. As I write I actually don't know what the answer is given the limitations of our squad, but I do think that with both Doucoure and Lerma playing, we can afford to be a little more risk-taking across the front 4. But I don't think playing Eze (clearly our main creative force) or Edouard (perhaps coming into form) out of position is the right next step.
Delighted with the 3 points as the 1st half seemed to be perfect evidence of what most of us thought about the transfer window. 2nd half made me think that I know a lot less about football than I thought !

At the beginning of the season I said Roy would stick with Ward and Schlupp and so it has proved. I'm not expecting it to change, Roy has always relied on these two.

To my eyes, Wolves are a poor side. We made them look better than they are with a woefully bad performance in that first 45.

When we finally stepped it up in the second half, they gave us so much space to turn it was unbelievable.

For all their little passing moments, Wolves just look blunt in the final third. I think we may see them struggling to stay up. I think the win should be seen in that context.

So, delighted with the win, of course, but I'm not getting carried away at all.

As for Schluppy, I think his inclusion in the side does give us a shape. Without that, as has been said previously, we'd start having to fit square pegs into round holes. Yes, he didn't play well at all and has been off-colour for a bit but he does have the ability down that inside-left channel to come up with some positive bursts.

Glad they didn't start with Kaladjzic (sp?) we have enough difficulty defending crosses without a 6'7" merchant lurking around,

lol

Brave to write but I’ll at least do the honourable thing and admit I’m in the same boat and often am.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I was saying before the game V sides we should be beating, especially at home, that Eddie should be switched left and Mateta up front. Once that happened we looked really dangerous.

They linked well and also Eze came into the game more.

I would be happy if we did that again for the last 30 minutes v villa.

Once Olise is back it wont be a problem as he will take schulpps place.

I cant understand the dislike for Jeff on these boards myself . He does a hell of a lot of the unseen work that coaches and managers rely on to make their sides tick. When Wolves came down our left they more often than not passed the ball backward because Schlupp was in the right place to cut out the pass , the first goal came about because he dragged two Wolves players off the left hand side into the middle giving Mitchell the acres of space he had to get a cross in .He actually had a good game without touching the ball. And as you say he does occasionally pitch in with a good forward run and the odd goal

Managers pick players they can trust , thats why Jeff gets picked every game . That may well change when the others are availiable ,but dont count on it.

Thought that was a decent performance and could have run away with it ,at 3-1 we looked more likely to score again than them . Like the first goal the second Wolves effort was really poor defending . I mentioned it last season but will repeat that one of our CB needs to be challenging for that ball , the angle that comes in at gets headed clear in any other side down to league 2. Hope they are working on it

I really don’t get why Schlupp gets such a hard time on here. I rate him highly. Powerful, direct, hardworking with a decent strike.

You’d expect Eze to move into his spot when either Franca or Olise are back, even so, he’s a terrific impact sub.

I’m glad Edouard managed to make a mockery of the arm chair critics on here. Excellent 3 points on what must have been a roasting afternoon pitchside. 7 points from 4. Got to be happy with that.

Had a feeling Edouard might improve this season. But even he has surprised me. Both those goals today and the one at Plymouth and The Blades were typical striker goals and I have to say better than what I was expecting.
It's early days, but we are looking good. We need to work on crosses coming in from the left. That last goal was due to us thinking we could sit back and run the game down. If we hadn't got our third we would all be gutted.
Roy is fully aware of what is needed and Im sure he will continue to push us forwards.
