on the subject of another 'peaceful religion'....it look like Christianity was openly mocked at the Olympics The Last supper, the Golden Calf, the Caped rider on a Pale horse.
Paris. As the city that suffered the Bataclan Theatre massacre/ and the Charlie Hebdo murders...as a backlash to a perceived Islamic blasphemy, its outrageous that such a deliberate blasphemy now gets beamed Worldwide. Even as an atheist, i find this deeply shocking. Elon Musk has declared it an outrage. Talk about inviting a french Anders Breviek to drive another truck down the Boulevard des Anglais in Nice ? its almost a call to a tenth Crusade. And the silence from Francis, the woke Pope, is deafening. Edited by PalazioVecchio (28 Jul 2024 9.57am)

It is the fact that we pander to other religions. We live in a world where some of us are 'enlightened' and many others still live in the dark ages. Some of those want to kill you for saying the wrong thing or having the wrong image. We need to rid ourselves of the loons, not become as bad as them. Other religions need their own Monty Python. Even the Jews have Mel Brooks.

But i see it that the religion that gives off the most disrespect to others is ALSO the one that has the least tolerance for any word of dissent. we either respect ALL religions, or we can lampoon and diss all of them. You cannot pick and choose. Mocking one religion while violently defending your own religions sensitivities.
And Woke-wokery bears all the hallmarks of a new religion. Edited by PalazioVecchio (28 Jul 2024 10.53am)

We have allowed the darkness to enter our world. We did not dilute or reject the constraints of our own religion just to invite another one in. Zero tolerance for zealots.

If we hadn't all become so desensitised to Islamic motivated attacks and bothered listing them here, then this thread would be 50 pages longer. And to be concerned is Islamophobia.

Why? Because it’s in the Mail on Sunday perhaps? Let’s be clear! No British island can apply Sharia as its law. Anyone in the UK can, under the guidance of their religious leaders, agree to use Sharia principles to settle disputes but the law remains the law for them as it does for all. How the police would apply the law if this purchase went ahead is quite another matter but I bet the security services, and the people of Fulmer, would prefer that an odd religious group chose a remote Scottish island as its base rather than somewhere in the Home Counties. A group who seems more concerned about the argument with the Sunnis than anything else. It’s a tiny place, without resources, so how could it sustain itself? Is it actually being backed by Iran? It must be under constant surveillance and having it there would probably make that easier but it doesn’t look like a realistic concept to me. Someone who has already set up army training camps! Ah yes can’t be true it’s in the MOS, same old excuse. Do you honestly believe that the police would go the Island to enforce the law? Ffs get real.

We most certainly must not be cowed by religious nut cases with knives or guns, but we have every reason to be wary of them. Ensuring we have the resources to act quickly on our behalf, both through surveillance technology and manpower is essential. Then we need to work hard to reduce the numbers who believe that such behaviour is justified. There will always be some. Nut cases will always be with us. Ostracising a whole religion, no matter how odd the beliefs might be to us, is only going to make things worse.

No, I don’t think they would go, unless it proved necessary because a crime was reported that was impossible to ignore and then they would go mob handed. They would though have surveillance and containment. The so called “army training camps” have obviously been tolerated so far, so cannot have been seen as a threat. Sticking them on a remote island where movements can be monitored and controlled quite easily, must be safer than having them in Bucks.
