We can’t win every game.
However, we can give ourselves the best chance of winning every game by selecting our strongest available team on the day.
We didn’t do this yesterday and many of us were calling this out as soon as we saw the lineup.
We’re not in Europe or the FA Cup and we are not mathematically safe so there is no need to rotate .
Experiment once we are safe if that is the desire, but not at this stage.
The selection of Richards at right back, a second string midfield and Eze on the left of a front 3 (when he has been excelling in midfield) made us a weaker team and had the effect of slowing the momentum built up in the previous four games.
We looked appreciably better and more balanced in the second half with Ward restored at right back and with Eze and Schlupp in midfield.
None of the above is suggesting Roy is a bad manager or has not done a good job on his return, but it is querying the need to make unnecessary changes for an important game when our avowed intention is to look up the table rather than over our shoulder.

I must admit, I've been wrong about Eduoard. I always thought he had ability, just needed a run of games. But to be fair, he's been given a fair crack over the past few games and he's shown very little (a good finish against Leeds aside). Generally lazy and slow. I almost think I'd go for Mateta over him at the moment...which is saying a lot...because I think he's a donkey too.

Agree 100%. Thought we had a gem when Edouard was introduced (2 goals in 9 min), but in the last couple of games he has been total rubbish. Losing the ball constantly, never wins a duel or creates an opportunity (goal vs Leeds the exception to the rule).
But all in all, I think we played very well (2nd half) and in Richards we have a central defender gem. Maybe the trio of Guehi, Andersen and Richards would be a success?

Agreed. Roy picked a weakened side, to anyone thinking otherwise would the side he picked be the starting 11 for the remainder of the season? With the early goal his calculated plan (hold it for 0-0: we saw enough of it during his last stint to know that this is his preference) went bust. It took him a while to make the changes to restore the balance and when he did we looked a better side. Not enough to get a goal though, as their keeper had things covered.

And he only played 30 minutes or so. Speaks volumes !

Even with the change of personel there is no way we should be losing that game .
Wolves couldn't believe their luck in being gifted the opener and set their game up from that point onward to not concede . We obliged in not threatening the goal with any real intent bar a couple of efforts fro Eze.
Conceding early really did for us ,with their noses in front Wolves could sit back and well , that was that .

The Johnston error was IMO because we were chasing the game moving into added time ,I think he just boots that clear if we didn't need to retain possesion . I hope nobody was too hard on him ,he looked destroyed .

One we just have to take on the chin , we were not good enough in creating anything worthwhile and as mention a trillion times over the past few years ...We still need a Striker.

Exactly. Worse errors happen to better keepers every now and then especially if you go for "all or nothing". I assume his error hadn't affected the outcome of the game nor our final position in the table.

Like others - when I saw the team I was somewhat baffled.
Richards for Ward was fine but Luka and Lokonga was an odd one and with Jmac on the bench as well.
No out and out centre forward - Mateta could have played?
Ayew and Eze out of position - square pegs and all that.
To me there was no need to mix things up so much and it backfired.
Two individual errors of course but nonetheless, when you mix so much up you will rarely get the desired result.
West Ham will be a tough one on Saturday and so whilst we are likely safe we will have to wait until Bournemouth or Forest at home to be truly happy.

I thought we were ok last night and a bit unlucky, but it is a bit concerning that for the second game running a team has defended more astutely and we haven't had any answers. Leicester, Leeds and Saints opened their legs, but without space against Wolves and Everton all our good work largely happened in areas where we couldn't hurt them. I said elsewhere that this is when we miss Wilf as he just drives at the goal and has the strength and skill to do so. The players still seem to have fight in them so hopefully the season doesn't peter out. It is also a reminder to the board that more investment in the squad is needed.

I read a couple of reviews of the game from Wolves' fans and they seemed quite impressed with us. Definitely a needs must performance from them and it worked.

It was a decent display, Roy said before the game that he wanted to assess some players, which makes it almost certain he will be manager at the start of next season, which i am not unhappy about, the main problem is as always, no decent striker, we have to try and get rid of both and replace, money will be available, as long as we dont give Wilf a ridiculous contract, i dont think Roy will play some of the players he did last night in the same positions again.

Yes, Wolves were happy to soak it up once they got the early lead and although we had a further 87 minutes on the clock, aside from a couple of pot shots from Eze we didn't really look like scoring or creating a clear-cut chance. Luka, Lokonga, and Hughes - this isn't a midfield designed to create chances, and it didn't, the proof is in the pudding.

He has to play one first!
I think Edouarde needs to be gone but I still feel that Mateta has it in him if given a chance.

If we’re testing some players then Mateta needs to start Saturday. I don’t know what the poor guy has to do to get ahead of Edouard. He may possibly be just a donkey but he’s a donkey that runs up and down for 90 minutes and occasionally hoofs one into the net.

We don’t have another transfer window to buy a striker, Ayew who has been our best player recently looks lost upfront although I understand that experiment and Edouard offers literally nothing.

I’d have Mateta as first name on team sheet until the end of the season and if we score 0 goals until then so be it. It would at least prove to Parish we need to buy a Striker yet again.
