Great result, even a shame that we didn't beat them with Wilf's outstretched left instead of his right. I think we could do with a nice fat victory over the Villans.

Tremendous result and 3 at the back seemed to work well; Andersen, I thought, was really outstanding again.

I think pv had told them not to dive in and foul their players, Trent would have punished us that’s why the Liverpool player got his goal, can’t complain we might be the only team to get a point up there, let’s see how villa goes, Richards did look a monster when he came in vierra in disguise ?

Mrs POG and I had a prior date with a silent movie tonight so I missed the match on Sky. Arrived home at 11.15, poured myself a large whisky and quickly fast forwarded to see the score. Couldn't believe we scored first. Great goal Wilf. Disappointed to see their equaliser, but delighted we hung on for a draw. Good result at Anfield. It's late now, so I look forward to watching the whole game in the morning. This is a great result for us and gets a point on the board after just two games. Probably better than most of us expected considering the top teams we've played. Brilliant result. The silent movie, a German, 100 yr old interpretation of Dracula, was brilliant too. In a different kinda way.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

I suspect that each player thought their job was to prevent him from penetrating, and they counted on the next player to close the gap. At the same time, each of them was reluctant to tackle because: Sad but true.

Not many teams will get anything from the trip to Anfield this season so we have to take the point. In both games so far Eze and Anderson have been fantastic. High pressing seems to be the way most teams are playing now so we look to be going long rather than playing out from the back, which we were only able to do when they went down to 10 men and still did not look comfortable in doing so. We be interesting to see if this changes but with 9 players behind the ball and trying to play it long to Zaha is going to be some what limited.

Great result, bit difficult to watch to be honest, what with all the possession we gave to Liverpool. I only read from page 10 onwards of this thread, so apologies if I missed any comments already, but I wanted to mention Doucoure. My understanding was that he was a beast of a DM, crunching tackles etc. From what I could see last night he was the weak link, seemed hesitant, not out of position just no bite to his defensive game. Going forwards he looked better. If he is not going to settle into to Premier league football, he (we) are going to struggle without mettle in that position. I thought we looked much more assured when Hughes replaced him. Also, I acknowledge, that he is new to the club, the football brand, and the premier league. First time I saw Jedinak I thought he was rubbish - how wrong I was about him too.

A great point to get us off the mark, and one I was not expecting to get. We battled hard and certainly rode our luck at times. Our goal was sublime and our defence stood strong. Only one game but we defended set pieces much better against one of the best and I'm really enjoying seeing Anderson has added a bit more a aggression to his game. Liverpool's pressing was relentless, even with ten men but we held strong. Hopefully we can rest and recover and put in a good display against Villa on Saturday... hopefully with a little bit more possession COYP

Liverpool have quality in abundance, yep we rode our luck but some very positive signs. Biden our time and stuck to our plan. Anderson was fabulous, Zaha on his own played well, couldve had 3. Eze was great, great through ball. Richards looks good if only for 10 min. Doucoure showed signs of what he's capable, high octane match in an intimidating atmosphere. I thought we did a great job COYP!!!!!
