We tried quite hard to get Max Aarons last time Norwich went down, which on the other night's showing was a good call. We might get a better response if they go down again.
He does seemed destined for bigger and better things with all respect to Norwich. Would consider him a fantastic acquisition barring any Ferguson-esque shenanegans however will state I do view it as unlikely that we'll capture him. Would be thrilled if so however.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

The situation regarding Ward Simply baffles me. So back to ward again a player we originally bought 3 right backs ago 10 years ago !! Anyone who thinks that good business needs their bumps felt. Ward is lovely bloke and a great servant for the club, of that there is no doubt. But .....anyone with a modicum of pace has him up all day long, and after last night it would appear his delivery into the box as an attacking right back ( as PV plays that way ) was bloody woeful. Compare that to our LB Mitchell who is another Ashley Cole in the making, he was simply superb last night and for me was MOTM. The fist 30 mins was dire, exactly as it was against Scumwall, then it was one way traffic, and but for a fluke of a penalty miss we would have had three points. Still not convinced with Mateta he had few opportunities against a shambolic defence, would've much rather seen benteke as the focal point, as Mateta seems incapable of holding the ball up. Over all C+ much room for improvement. Oh and whats the crack with Wickham.V2 is he ever going to play ? Some of your Facts are wrong When Clyne left us we had just come out of administration In fact the administrators wanted to sell him to wolves for 350K but he prefeerefd to run down contract. He ran down his contract and joined Soton and fee we received was compensation due to his age. I accept your point as most of us do that it is time we looked for a replacement but he has seen off a lot players in his position (and managers). Other than under FDB he has been a main choice in his position, obviously AWB took his place for a while after taking his place due to injury. In my view he has also been agood captain when called upon and a positive influence on other players

A replacement is urgently required regardless of what sort of positivity is seen in him by fans. It’s a sad but true fact.

Clyne not as good as people think also injurys play a big part in his appearances , Looked at some stats Mitchel made more tackles by 17 from ward , but Ward has done the most clearances nearly 30 more than mitchell , so yes the pace is not there but the reading of dangers are still good. yes i said we need younger pity NF injurys havent gone away by now but he was free and we was hoping the operations was going to be quicker recovery , all the new injurys are lack of playing so muscle strenght not there yet , so a younger stop gap would be nice or a good signing of a 28yr old In the mean time we have Ward so get behind him , old men like praise

Ward's lack of speed has to be assessed with his ability defending close to goal. He more than once blocks goals destined for the net. His football mind is very superior to most defenders. His speed has been improved I have noticed but he needs to really prepare himself for that - I guess, because I have been astounded at his improvement in speed for many games this season - but he needs to be at his best to achieve that. So Ward brings a lot to the team, but you need a GOOD defensive midfielder to cover for his lack of (sometimes) speed, so that is why, despite some faults, I prefer Milo to a Hughes in the starting 11, or a Kouyate, or Macarthur, players more defensively minded to avoid leaving Ward 1 on 1 with speedy wingers. That was my criticism of the starting 11 against Norwich, all attacking midfielders (but to be fair, we STILL should and could have won that match). Yes, an upgrade on Ward is desirable, with Ward as a great sub, but I wouldn't discount Ward's proven value at present - until his upgrade arrives he needs to be supported by a more defensive-minded midfielder.
