I have some sympathy with this but I'm also a little concerned by just how willing some are in their certainty of the lives of others. There is a difference between someone being an arsehole in a dysfunctional relationship and rape. I remember there being some weird aspects to this case and some questions, however it seems that, while this woman wasn't happy with what was going on it also looks like she didn't want to destroy his life either. I think the question here is should the state be a moral busy body when questions exist about the situation and they aren't being backed by the partner. Edited by Stirlingsays (03 Feb 2023 12.23am) Have you listened to the audio and seen the images? Genuine question as I think a summary that’s he’s just an arsehole is not really supported - the audio is of a rape. The female clearly says many times “I don’t want to” and Greenwood repeatedly asserts that he doesn’t care, and if she’d have just done it when asked nicely he wouldn’t have to be doing this. Similarly, the images point to someone physically assaulting his partner - busted lips, bruised temples, bruised legs and wrists. These are not signs of simply a dysfunctional relationship. What are the weird aspects to the case and what are the questions?

I must admit it does. Probably making the best bet for her own future. Hopefully he understands just how close it came and learns an important lesson. Edited by Stirlingsays (03 Feb 2023 12.26am) Going by the rumours, they're back together. The police willingly ignored his bail breaches (that's been proved) and let a man who was charged with coercive and controlling behaviour contact his victim, and surprisingly this ends up with the victim dropping the charges and taking him back? Of course it reeks.

The legal system owes it to the public and the defendant to issue far more clarity on this. The legal system including the CPS shrouds itself in secrecy. They say the law is an ass and this fully supports that view. Give us clarity. Exactly if you read the CPS statement it implies that the witnesses (plural) withdraw their statements AFTER new evidence came to light. Did any of this new evidence relate to the legitimacy of the audio that people keep referring to?

Basically Innocent until proven guilty and not a trial by the public / media. In terms of the evidence the pictures could easily be halloween pics and the recording we only get a small part of the recording and not the whole bit. And to be quite honest I know full well some women have a kink for that and call it dirty talk.

What makes this turd guilty is the fact he ran off and hid said nothing to the media and as soon as his lawyers had found loopholes he made a statement thanking his friends and family, not once protesting his innocence.

Can't see him ever playing again, in this country anyways. Would be a strange circumstance indeed if he did as I can't see it fading away. Would we see kids wearing shirts with his name on the back? As for the morality and what have you, I really couldn't give a sh!t, I'm surprised anyone really does. We don't know the full ins and outs but whilst he hardly hid cloaked and dragged a woman into a dark alley it does look like an offence. As for her however, are we meant to believe their relationship was a genuine one up to that point including her investment in it? And that this was totally out of the blue from him? Or was she just infatuated by a footballer and the prospect of living a millionaire, celebrity lifestyle regardless of his character? If the latter, you can see some manipulation if not orchestration of the situation. Two things can exist at once - it seems like he's a scumbag and she's a f**king div. Send them both to jail. This reeks of child-like hysterics and drama far more so than any real world circumstances that need public update or analysis. Shame as he did seem a good footballer and a prospect all things aside. Might not be too popular to air that opinion now.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
