As it should be, but as we see, reality is often different. Making a law does not determine how it is applied or if it is enforced. We all know what that means. If this advert ever existed then there would be some evidence of it. Post it on here please.

Ah ok, so as ever the devil is in the detail. A 1 year paid internship into an underrepresented industry at entry level. Did you read this bit? ‘Under the UK’s Equality Act (2010), positive discrimination is unlawful, but “positive action” is permitted for professional development jobs, like trainee schemes and internships, in industries and sectors where BAME groups are under-represented.’ I would suggest if you have an issue with this kind of thing giving an opportunity for essentially paid work experience to someone who might not have otherwise had it then you really need to get over your selves and stop being so precious.

I never said it was illegal I was just offering up the example you requested. I do have an issue with it candidates should be treated equally if they are not then it is either illegal or that company needs to look at their hiring policies and more specifically their own HR. This is not the USA post civil rights or post apartheid South Africa where measures were required to rebalance a jobs market where some candidates were legally barred.

Some of those more right wing posters on though would have you believe this is similar to apartheid South Africa against the white man though.

In your political world you take some Bro’s version of reality you’ve seen on the internet, try and pass it off as your own opinion, use extremely questionable source data to try and back it up, and double down even when proved wrong. A pair of extremely unserious men. 'Derail a thread'? What was it yesterday 'online bullying'? These aren't accurate descriptions of the situations. You call us 'unserious' yet your positions are so melodramatic and hyperbolic. I suppose from where you sit, what we regard as normality does look unserious to you. That's your perspective....Yet to a social conservative you just come across as a well meaning if flawed lad with daddy issues.

Edited by DanH (13 Nov 2021 10.11am) The slappers giving it about weinstein seem to be doing ok from exactly this! Edited by cryrst (13 Nov 2021 3.43pm)

However what difference does that make? It'll just be a version of the same thing. Appeals to fairness won't get anywhere and never have. What matters is who holds power and their perspectives and ideology. If history teaches us anything it's that like words...laws can be created and justified to implement just about anything.

I see Vaughan is denying the allegations. He seems to be pretty strong on having said nothing untoward at all.
