We need to pay mp"s LESS, lets say £52k a year, thats a nice grand a week, and as the CONservative mp"s seem to have so much time on their hands, a substantial amount for a seemingly part time job! This will mean that mp"s who could earn much much more in the city or where ever,(most couldn"t or they would, believe me), can fcuk off, leaving only mp"s on All sides who care about the job, and will care about the people, while still earning a handsome salary !

And how are they doing?

They have been taking back handers for hundreds of years the honest ones don't seem to have enough of support to change the rules to stop this nonsense.

I think most are honest but stymied by the system.

Which is why we need a new party, without any baggage, to emerge. As I wrote in another thread, we need a "UKIP" style development with a strong single purpose focus. UKIP enjoyed tabloid support, and it's doubtful whether sleaze would appeal to them quite as much as Euroscepticism. We can only hope.

Sometimes I despair of Starmer.

Why is he focussed on this anyway.

I would think he’s trying to make some political capital out of a comparison with Boris’ stance on Paterson.

From my knowledge of the case it strikes me she is bang to rights as well so it would be great if the two of them could fcuk off and not come back.

So how does this work? MPs aren’t permitted to resign. Will they have to take fictional jobs?

Most of them already perform one of those!

Apparently being a Tory MP means you are very good at ‘advising’. This is just so very wrong

Probably depends upon the topic.

With centralists it's usually a disagreement concerning what the reality actually is....centralists are usually part of the system and want to protect it....so they will lie for it or lie to themselves.

With the further left there's usually agreement upon the reality of many topics but...we just feel differently about them as we disagree upon the best path forwards for humanity in general.

Essentially a lot of people dislike each other when most of them have similar goals with just different approaches to them.

Ideally each individual would be able to live within separate societies that implemented ideals closer to their visions rather than wanting to force everyone to live in just one.

Pay them more money - £150k/year.
Make some pre-requisite rules such as having had to work in a proper job for ten years before even thinking of becoming an MP.
Ban 2nd jobs other than 2 days/month - for example.
Absolutely no other work where that business has or could get any Government contract.
No lobbying at all by business
Whitehall mandarins and even lesser mortals - no lobbying at all either
No flipping of homes to get rent from while while renting another
Blah Blah Blah - the list could be endless but the trouble is that the pigs with their snouts in the trough are the ones that will vote for it and they bloody well won't do that because they are greedy and corrupt to a man/woman/trans/he/she/it.

Corruption is only significantly lessened when there is fear of the consequences.

We only get to hear of the cases that the media want us to know about....in practice it's as endemic as self interest. Especially in the financial sector....but that's practically expected.

For once I actually believe the Guardian who claim that the new rules on second jobs will only impact 10 MPs.

Some of us predicted that they would weasel their way out of it, they really think the voters are stupid.
