I was reading on News Now that a loan had been arranged with Ashley. It was vague and I couldn’t see Ashley lending anyone anything so I took no real interest. I do think they should stop messing Bruce about. I know he left us under a cloud but I do wish him well as based on what resources he had, he did a great job. Be careful what you wish for toon army.

Had Bin Laden survived, he came from Saudi Arabia, he could have ended up CEO of Newcastle United. Played his cards all wrong, also Yasser Arafat would have made a far better coach than Steve Bruce. But then so would anybody.

I heard Shearer's weasel words on MOTD so him and Gary can now say they covered the issue. All of 30 seconds and full of BS. "The Newcastle fans aren't to blame." Actually Alan they are they actively campaigned for this in full knowledge of the background to the owners. If they had protested like they did against Ashley I would agree but they have done the opposite. "this will highlight some of the human rights abuses which is a good thing". Really Alan I am so glad you brought it to my attention because apparently know one knew about this until they bought the club. Anyway it's good news if you are a woman or gay being persecuted this will comfort you knowing that Newcastle are likely to win the league with blood money. The players that are there have plenty to play for - I got the impression that Director of football, Manager & backroom staff were going to receive priority in terms of attention - (The transfer window situation pushes the whole scenario in that direction anyway) The best that we can hope for is that whatever team spirit they had self destructs in a kind of "everyman for himself" type situation in the coming weeks Originally posted by CPFC1965
Good luck to them, They have still got one of the worst playing squads in the league and can't get reinforcements for 2 1/2 months. A manager standing on a trapdoor and a aquad full of players who know they will be surplus to requirements in the summer. A rather nice toxic cocktail. What price Rafa to be their next manager?

Johnathan Woodgate was saying the other day that it was going to be a hard sell getting the best players to go to Newcastle instead of United , City or Liverpool - I guess if you pay a player enough they will go anywhere & if your living on superstar status & prepared to make the journey you dont even have to live in the area.

To start with they will get players who are 1 down from top draw e.g. better than what they have but not ones who would walk into a top six side and the club will pay over the odds. However if they can become a top six side with a decent chance of winning the league then the top players will come, why wouldn't they decent money and a chance of trophies. Man City didn't happen over night.
