That you think I have bias and prejudice about Trump says a great deal more about your own attitude than it does about mine. For my view is held by the vast majority and is plainly justified by Trump's behaviour. If evidence exists, then bias does not.

That we all have our own approaches, formed by our experiences and values, is clearly true, but that is not the same as being prejudiced. Prejudice is to hold an unreasonable attitude. One not supported by evidence.

Like yours about brexit you mean!

In some minds, perhaps, but surely it's better to confront it than hide it?

Confront what?

I have no idea, but both would create a lively debate.

It’s a tourist attraction; why does it need to create a debate?

For which the evidence is clearly there.

The arguments in favour were always emotional, rather than factual.

The plinth is rather more than just a tourist attraction. It's a focal point of interest and debate for everyone. If it does stimulate debate on racism, then that's confronting the issue rather than leaving it in the shadows.

As I just said, it's not just a tourist attraction.

There is no harm in showing tourists that we want to confront and debate controversial subjects, and to invite them to join in.

It is a tourist attraction. People outside London won’t see it and those who live in London who happen to be in Trafalgar Square don’t spend time looking at statues.
The only issue this is confronting is of a man who lived 100 years ago in a different country.

Confront and debate then apparently not do anything except make the situation worse.

You would have to decide if you trusted them after you had heard them. We haven't, so we cannot. You, of course, can as you always know what others think.

Whilst we all have our own perspectives, some of us are more able than others to look at things in a detached way and are able to make objective judgements. Sadly, you are not. Your prejudices and biases dominate all you ever say.

No I woudln't. I don't trust them from the get go.

The only thing you are detached from is reality.

People who live outside London do visit the capital. Those who do don't need to stand and stare at it to be aware of it. Or have an opinion, as is so richly demonstrated here. That you think it is only the issue of a man who lived 100 years ago, in another country, that is being confronted is, of itself, evidence of a wider issue being confronted.

Who knows? This may well be only a small piece of a larger issue, but the fact that it has caused this much interest is itself noteworthy

I believe your first statement. You don't trust anyone who is an expert unless they happen to agree with your world-view.

The second is simply wrong. My approach is grounded on hard facts and a lifetime of experiences, including some pretty hard knocks along the way.
