Welcome Patrick! Looking forward to a new era. Hopefully your winning mentality and experience / stature will enable the club to move forward. A season filled with the look of a clear new identity put into place and a style that fills us with optimism as we move through the season. I’m glass half full and can’t wait to see what this season brings!

Been it, seen it, done it. I’m with you IMO great appointment - really excited....!! As you have outlined an absolute winner - also played under Wenger, coached under Guardiola - two of the greatest Managers of the last two decades..!! Also thought he came across very well as a pundit in the Euros - talked a lot of sense..!! There’s no way he’d come to Palace unless he thought/knew he would/was going to be backed in terms of investment. Viera is not just a Premier League star he’s a global star..!! I just don’t understand some of the negative comments on here - moaning no Manager being appointed - then one is who is a massive name - still moaning. Just no pleasing some folk..!! Come on PV let’s now start getting in some exciting young talent - starting with Micheal Olise - also French so with PV now as Manager must give us a good chance..!! Come on Viera...!! COYP

My feeling, for what it is worth,is that perhaps many supporters have a sense of unease about the appointment and many of these would have felt more comfortable had Sean Dyche been handed the reins. Patrick Vieira is to be applauded for his courage in taking up the challenge at our club.I of course wish him every success. Edited by Willo (04 Jul 2021 7.59pm)

I,for one,am very excited we've got Patrick in.Ollie's Dad,Ash.

Been it, seen it, done it. And a hard b’stard to boot. I have to admit to being a bit nervous as to his selection but also think it’s a great opportunity to have someone with such a legendary playing background. I wish him all the best and hope he has some personal contacts that can attract some decent players to the club. Should be an interesting next month as he assembles his squad.

Good Luck Patrick, I just wish he wasn't starting his appointment under the circumstances in the way they have played out. I think the succession/handover planning has been handled pretty poorly especially as the rumours that Santo's time at Wolves was coming to an end were about from early May. Also Lampard, Favre and Vieira etc were all available before the season ended. With good planning the future manager could potentially have been getting a head start closely assessing players from the stands for the last few games of the season.
One of the biggest mysteries in life is that loud stupid people normally don't have even the slightest inclination that they are stupid. |

Welcome Pat and (obviously) best of luck.
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |
