I've got to say physically and athletically he looks good but he did not look like a goal scorer. I would be surprised if he makes much of an impact in the premier league but i would love to be proved wrong.

I talked about hjm and the othwr young center forward from the Bundesliga, Wamangituka, on pqges 6 and 5. I would have prefered Wamangituka, but I'm statting to appreciate Mateta too. He came back well after the injury.

Mainz may be struggling, but he gets a lot of opportunities, good opportunities.

Hopefully that's a sign of him doing the work to get into those positions, but if the approach work is being done for him I can't help but feel I'd rather have Bats on the end of those chances, even with how his season has gone.

Fingers crossed he can get as many chances as that and gain the composure to finish.

you've hit the nail on the head. Look at us, Newcastle and West Ham - all bought expensive strikers who have struggled due to lack of service. Then confidence drops etc and you have an expensive flop.

West Ham recently took a 50% hit on Haller, while Newcastle are playing Joelinton (sp?) on the left wing. We persevere with Tekkers but he is clearly not the same person we bought 4 years ago.

I hope the lad does well, but we need to provide him with a decent supply.
