Just not enough time for any new signings to bed in. Three weeks till the window closes. We are in dire need of a right back a striker and a winger at the minimum. We also still haven’t replaced Cabaye properly and could do with another midfielder.

In terms of the teams who finished in the lower reaches last season and those some are saying might find the going quite challenging the number of pre-season signings are as follows : A.Villa 7, Norwich 5, Sheff Utd 4, Southampton 3 (Includes Ings who was on loan last season), Burnley 2, Brighton 2,Bournemouth 2, Newcastle 0.

This page shows transfers for this summer, EPL. You can scroll through and decide for yourself how many good deals have been made, but it does help put our own dealings into perspective, so far.

At the moment you would have to say that the clubs outside of the top 6 have mostly strengthened, even if only slightly, while only Newcastle seem to be in a significantly worse position than us. Of the clubs that came up it is hard to judge as spending does not always equate to success, although I could see Villa being more similar to Wolves than Fulham. At the moment we have lost our POTY and not replaced him and we have also lost Batshuayi, Ayew and Sako. Even our new third-choice keeper seems weaker. That is not to say we are one of the worst squads, but it is hard to see how we could even match last season's finish if our squad is weaker? We only finished three points adrift of Leicester and West Ham and five from Everton, but these three clubs have once again invested heavily this summer, so it seems hard to see how we could keep up with them again? It does put into perspective how well Roy did last season with little outlay. I'm starting to feel sorry for him, as despite the results he has achieved he has received next to no backing in the transfer market.

Leicester @ £75 Mill, W.Ham @ £60 Mill and Everton @ £32 Mill.W.Ham of course got £22.4 Mill from the Arnautovic sale.

Jenkinson may be as unglamorous and dull-sounding as a transfer can get but I suspect Parish likes him and that he'd do well for us. And cheap.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |
