Think it was down to Huddersfield's tactics. Having Prichard stick to Luca like glue and a high pressing line meant we couldn't get the ball out. We seem to lack players with the intelligence/freedom to change things on the pitch. Guiata in particular got a lot of stick, but he just didn't have an outlet. Credit to Roy, he did change things at half time. Mayer's first touch and ability to look for space is the best we've had since Cabaye left but admittedtly his tackling is poor. I still can't work out how Schlupp gets on the pitch. He is a passenger in games. Is it extra protection for PVA? Could we play Reidewald or Mayer there? The like for like Striker substitution seemed strange again. In the end we were lucky that Huddersfield gave away a clumsy penalty. Ultimately, that stopped the result going the way the Cardiff and Newcastle games went. Good to see a well worked goal from open play. Hopefully, it will help the team build a bit of confidence. PVA certainly looked relieved. Edited by jeeagles (31 Mar 2019 1.16pm) The Udders had better chances to get a win than those two. A better team would of been out of sight by half time. Both teams showed poor finishing, luckily we are not the one relegated.

Just wondering why it always takes a piss poor first half to pass before this team actually start to get its act together. Tactics? Motivation? Complacency? Edited by southnorwoodhill (31 Mar 2019 10.22am) My thoughts are that we are always, and have been since we came up six years ago, in survival mode and are too cautious early. We always seem determined not to lose before we even think we are good enough to win. Definitely a state of our collective minds - fans included.

In first 60 minutes, there was a terrible football, it was simply a torture watching to team to move 30-40 yards forward. There were lots of moments i felt regretful to opt in to go stadium instead of enjoying 20 C Saturday afternoon. After 60, it became like Space Jam movie that whoever had a chance to score lost all skills to score. At the end of the day, it was good to leave the stadium with a win which rarely happened this year.

An ugly win. why blame Roy for a team that can't score, he has done remarkably well with the crds he has been dealt, with one or two exceptions our team quality is not the best and he has had to deal with a meddling chairman who allowed us to go in to the season without an inform striker or adequate quality cover, the problems we have were long apparent be Roy arrived and have stayed throughout his tenure because SP cannot get decent players to come to this club!

play well and we lose, play badly and we win, mmmmmmm maybe theres something in that, saturday was more about our finishing than our overall play, defenders the only ones to get shots on target, how we get out of that no idea,no matter what you do on the training ground, will change what happens when playing in a match,no pressure in training,we need regular goal scores wright and bright, freedman and morrisson and AJ and Ship, cant see any of this lot scoring between 25 and 30 goals like the above did, I mean combined not solo

Exactly right to the point and that has been our problem all season, we just do not have the quality strikers or goal poachers that Saturday showed we so badly need. Our DOF and Chairman together are clueless, Roy, bless him does quite well overall with the tools he has but if your players cannot shoot on target then you are always going to struggle, SP has consistently failed to persuade QUALITY players to come to CP, hence we end up with other teams rejects!

We have plenty of quality players in the team that have been persuaded by someone to come to us. If you mean specifically people who can bang in goals on a consistent basis then you have more of a point. However, there are a number of teams with exactly the same problem.

I think the two CBs basically had a day off. It's as if they both had hangovers. Tomkins in particular was very lethargic. McArthur made all the difference when he came on. Pity most of the others didn't have that rocket up their backsides.

I would expect to see us playing better with a couple of weeks of training together. This summer could be pivotal. We certainly cannot afford to sell our stars, especially if we are not spending.
