I had heard that there is going to be a re-generation of the town centre. Yes, there have been plans knocking about to redevelop The Martletts Shopping Centre in Burgess Hill for several years. As it stands retailing will take a back seat with plans to build a multiplex cinema, bowling alley and hotel. Apparently only Nandos and someone like Next expressed any serious interest at the prospect of moving into Burgess Hill. I actually have a soft spot for Burgess Hill and find it a friendly place, and, despite the Amex rabble only being 10 miles down the road, there are a fair few Palace supporters in the area.

Part Time James, for one, although he doesn’t grace us with his presence on here anymore.

I lived in Hove for thirty years. Like everywhere it has it's bad bits and share of vagrants but overall it's a nice place and certainly a cut above Brighton. What always baffled me was the clientele in some of the pubs in pretty affluent areas. The Hove Park Tavern ( down the road from the old Gallstone Ground ) being a prime example. No idea where these people come from. I was once threatened in there by a guy as I lightly brushed by him at the bar, which given that I'd just had a foot operation and was on crutches, I thought was a bit much !

Probably a poltroon trying to give the impression that he was as tough as gun metal. Some intestinal fortitude picking on a chap with crutches !
