If the current expected deals go through, we'll have the following all fighting for 3/4 places : Luka I know that gives us depth but we need another winger, right back, striker and possibly left back. Just seems odd. Exactly! Spending in the wrong positions! I guess the board just can't resist paying ageing players with no resale value who have hardly played recently.

This signing along with Ayew & Cahill (all squad additions) will make total sense if we spank some cash on a right back and decent striker now. Get those over the line and I'll be more than happy ...

SSN currently reporting that McCarthy was part of a £70m plus players offer from Everton for Wilf yesterday. Palace said no, but added they wanted at least £80m. Not clear whether that is £80m plus players. All very troubling. If we sell Wilf now, how do we replace him in the last 24 hours of the window?

Just seems odd. Trouble with your thinking is that while they can play in midfield, they can't all play the same positions in midfield. Luka, McArthur and Kouyate can play centre/holding mid with only Reidewald as cover which is neither enough or good enough cover. Meyer and Schlupp are what I would class as attacking/wide midfielders who have no cover. Camarasa adds depth to the attacking element of our attack and McCarthy is a vital position I feel because we often play all 3 of Luka, McArthur and Kouyate so it is important to have a fourth senior player in that position. I could understand the moaning if we only played two centre mids and we had 3 senior players but that's not the case. We do play 3 centre mids and so we do need 4 senior players in that position.
How often did the tactics have to change because of a lack of depth? How often did the fans complain Roy doesnt make substitutions?

I reckon his going to Chelsea next season he wants to stay in London near his family so his not going to Everton otherwise palace would of excepted the bid

who is managing our transfer activity. We have an ageing squad all on high wages. I know lets buy another player for the one position we don't need cover in who will be on high wages and no re-sale value. McCarthy is a decent player when fit but has no creativity and at 28 is not what we need. We gave Jimmy Mac a new contract only 9 or so months ago. Unless Luka might go I can't see the sense in this. Hoping Max and Koyaute (spelling??) will have better seasons this year too so really can't see the logic in this deal

Oh dear....he isn't even better than Jordan Ayew. 13 million splashed like that. This Palace transfwr window looks like the disaster of the century of a scouting team
