Just got home.... On balance of play thought Watford deserved it, good away performance. Had McArthur not let it through his legs from 3 yards out or Wilf had buried his 1 on 1, the pattern of the game would have changed and we’d probably have won. But they didn’t. We played alright but didn’t take our chances and they did. Gutted to lose to them. A win would have put us almost home and hosed. Was encouraged by the return of Big Ben. Got in some good positions and won a few headers. The sooner he’s match sharp, the better. We’ll be alright.

The players looked totally demoralised when Watford equalised. My issue is the spirit that has run through the team since we got promoted seems to be disappearing under the tactical set up that Hodgson uses .Van Aanholt doesn't seem to push forward as quickly as he used to ,and we seen happy to pass the ball across the back for three or four passes rather than use the long ball to release Wilf and Andros. That approach makes it so easy for the opposition to get men behind the ball and without a centre forward who can score (no offence to Benteke, Wickham, Ayew and Sorloth ) limits our attacking options. This system also appears to be crushing the life out of Wilf

I think a draw would have been a fair result today with Foster producing a couple of decent saves and McArthur and Wilf wasting great chances. It was quite an open game and I thought Wilf played well despite not taking his chances. However, we did look a bit more shaky at the back than in recent games and once again it was Wilf and PvA or Andros and AWB doing good work but with no striker worth his salt to aim for in the middle. When Tekkers came on he provided something to aim for and won a couple of headers that kept the ball alive, but it was too little too late. Personally I think we need to sign an attacking player just to add some new ideas and freshness as much as anything. Watford didn't actually manage Wilf or Andros that well and we probably should have scored more than one goal. Players like Wilf, Luka and even Sakho are capable of hitting defence-cutting passes, but we just don't have someone making those kind of runs at the moment. Very frustrating to lose, but given recent results I'm happy enough with Roy and the team. A little bit of quality in the window will make a big difference in my mind.

Our home form has been shocking for at least 2 years now, and we cannot seem to get it right. The team selection was totally wrong again from bumbling Roy. I think Roy is on a mission to piss everyone off, WH in goal for what f***ing reason?

Why does Hodgson always bring on Schlupp? Bring on both Benteke and Wickham, take off Ayew and Macca, lob some balls up with Wilf and Andros feeding off the knock downs. In other words try something different Hodgson!

Zaha had a one on one, he also laid a goal on for MacArthur that he missed. AWB and Townsend looked pretty good coming forward on many occasions. All I am saying is we played a bit better than the utter dross of some games earlier this year where we carved out zero clear cut chances. Remind me how many points you get for one on ones that you miss, laying on chances for other players that they miss, and looking pretty good coming forward.

Benteke will be starting soon with Wickham in the wings. Roy will never, ever change. Harry Kane taking corners springs to mind.
