Yes, it was a poor show, goalwise from us

Yes, we should have roundly beaten 10 men from Div 2,

but you know what?

I actually thoroughly enjoyed that good, old fashioned, end-to-end cup game against gung-ho, backs-to-the-wall opposition.

It's just so very Palace!

I agree and the goal was well worth the wait, made it even more special.

You're on to a hiding for nothing in games like this. For example, see Morata not celebrating either of his goals for Chelsea v Notts Forest. We won and that's all that matters. Dann looked solid and Kelly played well. Zaha and Townsend overdid it and seemed to be trying to win it on their own.

At the end of the day our league form coming into this game was really good, it's not like some seasons where we really needed a performance to pick us up. Great for Ayew to get another goal. Those being negative need to put this game in context with the wins over Wolves, Leicester and Man City.

I understand people being annoyed we didn't score more, but for me the result was never in doubt as we were so dominant and it just felt like luck couldn't only keep Grimsby in it for so long. Thankfully we don't have to go to a replay and we move on. It looks like Roy may be taking the cup seriously.

Nicely put.

Hitting the woodwork 3 times I thought fate was against us. Up popped Ayew & it was all over....good enough for me. Bedtime in Thailand!

I thought Zaha had a shocker. The number of times he tried to beat the whole Grimsby team when he would have been better off picking out a team mate was criminal.

Becky, there’s none more prone to Palace pessimism than me, yet I agree with you 100%.

Sorloth is a 9m waste of space , loan him out to a Div 2 team.

A Div 2 team wouldn't want him, he is a powder puff player, 2 yards behind the game and cant jump, but has a nice smile.

Danny Roses brother had him in his pocket, we should look at signing him, better than a lot of the squad players we have.

People keep complaining we need this and that but tbh we need depth in the whole squad, ok our strikers aren’t scoring but let’s fwce it all of our strikers are big centre forwards and they are hardly known for their silky messi Esque performances with the ball at feet.

We need an AJ type of player to compliment Benteke or Wickham.

With eleven men Grimsby would have actually come out of their penalty box and provided us some space in it.
