Cannot believe we are considering buying him. One goal in 20-odd games and that was offside so would be disallowed next season! Really depressing that we are looking at Ayew rather than Che Adams (gone to Southampton) or Maupay. We need a goalscorer - why can't the club see that?

My point is, why pay for someone who hasn't offered anything, when we may as well give a youngster a chance who may well also offer little but wouldn't cost us anything. Far more youngsters would probably succeed if given the opportunity to play. The ideal option of course is that we just buy someone who will make a difference. Name them and how they’ve done on loan.

Nothing wrong with signing Ayew for 2.5 million. Good player to have in the squad and can play in a few positions. He is not my favourite player in the world but he always looks like he gives his all when he played last season.

I like him! he is the dirty player we need! always nibbles at players feet and does alot of dirty that the others would not do. although he does not score alot he wins the ball back alot and im sure has a few assists...

Signing Ayew was very predictable, indeed I predicted it on 14th May: "I won't be surprised to see Ayew and Sako as the cover in these positions." Wrong about Sako it seems. I agree that Ayew is a decent squad member but I do hope we make one or two more signings that are a bit more exciting than this. Edited by dg1937 (08 Jul 2019 12.41pm)

Look, I hope I'm proved wrong and Ayew contributes something other than making up numbers, but is it any more of a risk to just have James Daly, Flanagan, Kirby or Dreher on the bench? Based on Ayew's performances on loan last season I don't think it is. You can't even argue about the physicality of the league as he got brushed off the ball by a slight breeze.
