I wonder what Parish and Brighty say whenever we have a good move and 3 defenders crowd our wide player in possession, in their box, only for our player to square it to where a forward should be, but isn’t, because we don’t have any to play!

Happened twice today with PVA and Wilf in good counter attacks. Happened a fair bit this time last year too.

"It's a bit of a library here, Brighty, but we're really showing how to out sing them to create an atmosphere, shame we can't afford a decent forward, but hey, the marketing opportunities are brilliant"

Poor defending cost us that game. I think I could find fault with AWB, Tomkins and PvA for their goals. Our relatively good defensive record is not what it seems. We keep it tight by defending in numbers and deeply - which costs us players in midfield and up front.

As for the midfield - a bit better but still lacking creativity.

Meyer played in an advanced role on the left and didn't have a great game but actually I wonder if that is the right position for him. I want to see him slap bang in the middle or further forward as a 10. He's wasted on the wing as he's not got the speed or dribbling skills to be really dangerous.

I am starting to see though, why Roy isn't trusting him to play in the Cabaye role. He's not shown the tenaciousness the Frenchman has. Maybe that will change if he's playing more regularly.

I didn't think Ayew was as bad as he's been in other games but not a game changer. Sorloth would have asked different questions but he's not consistent, is he?

I'm not too disappointed but a score was a possibility given how average they played in the first half.

Benteke !!!!!!!
He has done NOTHING !

And it@s about time Sakho was dropped !

His midfield defending is useless : he HOLDS the BALL for TOOOOO LONG

I mean personally I wouldn’t play 442. There are systems we can use that still gives him an advanced role and also keeps him in the centre of midfield, 4-2-3-1 for example. But I can understand why Roy put him there.

I just think, simply, Roy likes defending with 2 banks of 4. His central midfielders hold and the wide midfielders stay narrow, and shift more centrally in attacking transtions.

I’d prefer to see him left than in the middle of this particular system as it will give him license to get forward and shift centrally more, like Loftus-Cheek did for us. If he’s one of the 2 in the middle, he’ll be playing as a holding midfielder.

But I can understand why people would prefer him to always be more central.

Never a 3-1 game, but Chelsea deserved it...

My take on it , no one marked Morata for the second and where was PVA for the third, he should have been closer to Pedro. Overall we played well and that was a great worked goal for the equaliser.

Just as well we don’t have to play them every week, as for the ref that was the best referring performance I have seen this season. He let the game flow and you didn’t really notice him on the pitch. If that had been t***enberg we would have had 3 sending off’s, 6 bookings, a pitch invasion and an air ambulance helicopter on the pitch inside 90 minutes...

Oops, forgot about the Arse point, lol. 2 draws and a win then behind parity.

Not our best defensive display but we were playing a far better organised team than all bar a couple of teams in this division. Last season our midfield would have protected the defence better then today. We haven’t yet got it right in midfield and of course we are struggling up front. Those 7 subs Chelsea had would walk into our team, we couldn’t afford them though which is why they are at the top end and we are near the bottom of the prem. We are still better than others in this division and I’m confident once we get a forward in we will stay up. Midfield isn’t as strong as last season yet but we are good enough to stay up (I hope)?

I’m still hopeful and we don’t look completely lost.

Do you mean a forward into the team or signing one, because half the season is done by then every year and it won’t keep working.

Poor defending from crosses today.

You don't expect to win at Chelsea but with nothing up front, you can't expect to win against anyone.

We are in for a tough run until January and we must sign some quality reinforcements especially up front.

No more cut price crap if Parish expects to keep us up this season and next.

Just seen Jamie Rednapp analysis on the second goal. Foul on Sakho. So neither of the first 2 goals should have stood.

I think just about everything turns on Roy, I've heard he's very virile for his age
