This :- Roy: "We haven't been able to strengthen as much as we would have liked and the finances are such that we haven't really got a lot of money to spend on players. The chairman has made it clear to me that certainly this next season it is all about survival again"

Assuming Wickham is back even if we lose Sako we can make that frontline work. The defence looks the same as last year. We are struggling big time in midfield. Simple as that. We should not see another season of injuries like last year, and if we do we need to seriously look at what our backroom staff and medical guys are doing there. Getting a keeper signed was a huge step forward, but we need to bring in some midfielders who can sit in the middle of the park, plus a winger.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Survival being priority one could also mean we don't give a stuff about cup competitions this year, and our aim is to be firmly out of trouble in February, and build from there. It could just mean Parish is asking for one season of relative stability, where we float between 9th and 13th all year without much happening, and without us ever really getting into trouble. I also think we think more about the phrase 'a lot of money' as it could just mean we aren't going to have another Benteke/Sakho type deal (in terms of fee and wages), but there is money for a Milivojevic/Sorloth size move.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

It was reported that we were sending dignitaries to Turkey to discuss signing Tufan, now there is no information on what's happened regarding this. Is this more fake news or does someone know different. On the Parrish front, if he's true to form will unveil our marquee signing just prior to Fulham so we're happy but he won't play. RLC?

I suppose it is possible that after a section of fans (bizarrely) got sh*tty with Parish for trying to have higher aspirations that this time round he is trying to down play expectations. It might also help in negotiations for players. Liverpool knew we were desperate to sign Sakho last summer and we probably overpaid, albeit I'm still delighted we have him. This time round it is being widely reported we have no money and so it might help us to get better deals.

You haven’t bothered to read other posts or just jump to the conclusion that not a lot of money means ‘’Just no money.’’ A bit like an irrational character on Eastenders which I don’t watch , like that Max character. Or you work for the Croydon advertiser. Edited by Rudi Hedman (16 Jul 2018 2.06pm)

Yep and the last bit is more likely than being overrun in midfield for 30 games. Jacey, give it a read.

Sorry, perhaps I didn’t explain myself very well. Anyone who thought I meant we literally have no money, what I was trying to say was we don’t have millions needed to bring in quality new players. Anyone who thinks we have millions to buy new players, yes I’m calling you an idiot (there I said it) Our midfield is lights, never said it wasn’t but still more competitive than Huddersfield, Cardiff, Southampton, wolves in my opinion. A loan singing or two and I think we could challenge for another top ten finish. I don't think I am an idiot (those who know me and some on here may disagree) however I seem to remember SP stating that, as we did little business we would have approx £45 million to spend in January, we only paid for Sorloth. Now maybe, that was SP trying to smooth over another poor window, if not where is the money now? I have always supported SP but time is running out for the "where would we be without him" brigade. I for one, would like a little information from those running the club not just holiday snaps (of course he deserves a holiday) but frankly i'm not that interested in his travels only what is going on at the club I have supported since 1961. If this makes me an idiot so be it.
