I think you’ll find that with all if that in our very recent history, it is the right thing to do to remain humble and quiet about it at least for another few hundred years, like the Turks and Mongolians have.

And a few hundred years means that there are at least 5 generations since then. Are we responsible for their actions. No you were using Turkey as an example of a nation proud of it's history referring to the ottoman empire, the point I was making was that it is still a country in conflict and still at loggerheads with it's neighbours and is therefore not a good example. We have long moved away from the conflicts which shaped our past and prefer to distance ourselves from some of our chequered history especially since the effects are still felt today
