I see SP has recently tweeted about our fans fascination for bringing old players back, and to #moveon......this coming from the guy that brought Andy J and Wilf back to the club...let alone that cnut Freedman! #hypochrite

Recently in 2012.

In fairness AJ coming back was pointless but harmless. Freedman's influence is difficult to judge but the transfer business this window looks astute.

I saw the tweet someone linked earlier and dismissed it for the same reason. date shows June 2012. However the kits in the pic look much more recent. Me thinks a photoshop job to try and settle a debate.

Yeah, I posted it. Parish's tweet is there for anyone to see. I wasn't implying he was talking about Bolasie, just that Palace fans' weird obsession with signing ex players has been noted for years.

Yawn...perhaps if you read and then took a minute to understand what had been written you'd see that I'm actually critising SP for criticising fans who want old players back...he's the one telling fans to move on and forget stuff like that...not me...so bore off and have a lie down..zzzzzzz

Surely we take our lead from Parish as it's him that likes to bring old players back again. In addition to Freedman he also brought back Pardew, Salako and Bright to name but four and I have no doubt that there are more if I could stretch my brain that far

indeed...not to mention Richard Shaw and Paddy Mcarthy and Neil shipperly, Jim Cannon and Kenny Sansom in the restaurants entertaining the clientele....though the one half sensible micky pearce brought up is that no one knows what Freedman does lol

The old boys act around the club may or may not be a good thing but it's not really the same as suggesting we sign Bolasie and Dwight Gayle.

Yes, it is a very different thing.

The questions have to be:

can they do a job for us; and
is the money right?

If the answer to either question is no, then we shouldn't sign them - no matter how popular they were.

I mean Dwight Gayle is a "no"; Bolasie a "maybe"; Nathaniel Clyne or Victor Moses would be a different story.

The 3 basic qualities they need to answer at least 1 or and hopefully 2 are:

Does he score goals?
Does he create goals?
Does he stop goals?

If the answer to a scout is no to all 3 of those then it’s a no.
