Looking at the overall goal scoring picture of the teams round about us only West Ham have scored more with Soton the next closest to us.More than that only Leicester of the bottom 14 are notably high scorers. More goals would be nice of course but it's the goals against column that worries me most.

I'd go back to Liverpool this time for Ings - he must surely want at least some game time! But failing that Ayew might be the man on your logic.

Whatever happens Brighton aren't going down on goal difference. They are way ahead of huddersfield there - it's worth an extra point to them.

Brighton's goal difference will hopefully take a hammering in the next month. Five losses including a couple of spankings would do it!

Sadly can't see ALL of Soton or Stoke, Palace, Huddersfield, Swansea, West Ham getting to 35pts or above AND Brighton losing all five of their games.

Much as I personally would love to see them gone, Saturday's atmosphere was something to behold and I'd love to do it again. It's a tough one!

Personally, I think we only need a point or two.

They could shock Tottenham tonight !
Very unexpected 1-0 win for WBA at Man Utd and maybe Brighton will pull off a shock 1-0, 2-1 win.

It doesn’t need to be all of them. One of them and West Brom don’t need to finish above Brighton for them to be relegated. I don’t think they will be but it could happen.

Murray will keep Brighton up.

I think Stoke will go after they drew last night. That would have been a massive 3 points for them.

Us, West Ham and Huddersfield will be safe.

I think it will be out of Swansea and Southampton.

Swansea play Stoke and Southampton I think so they need to win 1 of those two at least to stay up.

Sorry Rudi, it would take Southampton Or Stoke, plus the rest I listed to overhaul Brighton to dump into the last relegation place. All hypothetical though as it's beyond our 92/93 demise in its likelihood.

If we were to win our last 4 games, which I think we will it will be the second highest points total in our history for the current premiership set up, which would be remarkable considering our start and injury problems

Odd post. It is our defence that needs shoring up; but let's see what strikers are available..?

Our defence was badly bruised in only 5 games that make up 19 of the 54 goals conceded. Up till then our record in the prem has largely been one of stacks of losses but no spankings.

If you take those games out and restore our usual form, we would be top half on goals conceded (and, likely, position). Burnley are pushing for Europa having scored 3 less goals than us.

Thus, I support the point you may have been thinking: if we are going to focus on buying from the relegated/lower clubs then target their defences. E.g. Brighton + Swansea have conceded considerably fewer goals; even the Baggies have a better defensive record than Palace.

Thus, unless Papa has restored full fitness, I would be looking at a new LB and CB to replace Damo. Any thoughts from those teams? Answers please on the Transfer page...

BTW, when we survive, there seems a delusion that we will have our pick of the demoted. Nope. Parachute payments will mean there is unlikely to be much plundering unless the players are on eye-watering wages and/or command sky-high fees - not usually defenders. Also, like it or not but there are bigger &/or richer clubs who will rank ahead of us. Not that those facts will stop the dreary round of summer posts as to why we haven't landed Ayew etc...

Nothing to suggest this is likely though. Brighton still only scored 9 goals away all season and Spurs are a much better side.

True Spurs may rest one or two ahead of the cup game at the weekend, but I think Brighton will be a bit nervy and downhearted after the weekend. I'm expecting a regulation Spurs win.

The thing that concerns me slightly about some of these 'tough' run-in games others have is what priorities the top clubs have. The top 5 seems fairly sorted now but:

Manure, Chelski & Spuds have a potential FA cup final on the horizon

Bin Dippers the UCL

Arse the Europa

Add in to the mix players looking to avoid injury which could ruin their world cup chances and there could be some shock results. Of all of them, I think the Arse are most likely to capitulate.

Our immediate future is in our hands & we have more than enough to win 2 or more of the remaining games.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!
