This post has been merged from a topic called 'Sums up this transfer window' by Midlands Eagle We need to get a very clear reputation for making single, tightly time-bounded bids for players and not negotiating. This would enable us to move away from the ends of windows. Go in high and go in once. Walk away if we're rejected. It is very simplistic to blame Parish as much as people are though.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Sums up this transfer window' by Midlands Eagle People moaning about leaving late and trying to do it all on the cheap , this will lead to us being relegated. Last January we bought Schlupp and PVA , everyone said great as we needed left sided players , we stayed up , this season everyone thinks we paid too much for them . What can you do ? It's good the transfer window is all over , now we know what have and we should all just get behind them , including the THREE NEW players we did get. If we get relegated it will be down to the start we made when we had the players but unfortunately has a seriously flawed manager who did not know how to use them.

Yes I concur with these sentiments. Vitriol hurled without being privy to the facts. I re-iterate that transfer negotiations in a 'Window' can be convoluted, protracted and darned well frustrating with so many factors entering the equation and one can expend energy on deals 24/7 which don't come to fruition for a plethora of reasons. Because we have signed unknowns from lesser leagues, not secured a goalkeeper and not acquired expected numbers supporters are hugely disappointed but at the end of the day the new chaps might prove very astute acquisitions.Time will tell.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Well the question is not what we think but what does Hodgson think? In public he'll be terribly polite but in private will he think that this is a reasonable portfolio of talent given the strategy of getting unknown but well-scouted players based on Freedman's nose, or will he think that he identified key gaps which haven't been addressed? Presumably the question of how OK he was with Hennessey and Speroni until the Summer must have been discussed with him because if he really had a problem with it we could have put down the eight million Euros. Once we had Sørloth concern about other strikers seemed to go away, and again presumably he was happy with the idea of spending potentially 140 million crowns on him.

The only player they have signed in the 'Window' has been striker Guido Carrillo for £19 Mill. This supplements their strike force of Austin,Gabbiadini and Long.Bit more than what we have ! Austin is perennially injured, Long has 1 goal in 2 years and Gabbiadini can't get a game. They have clear deficiencies in the team in defence (they sold their best defender) and in midfield. It's not just a case of one position that needed a bit of reinforcement. There is a reason why they are in the bottom 3. Their fans have been moaning about the window probably more than people on here.

Roy said this window alone he needs 6. Your numbers include loans right which should be excluded really we don't own them players. We have a squad which is too small no depth and needed a lot of signings over the periods you are covering and all we did n that time span is 6-7 signings that is not good at all. lets use Man City as example Peop stated aging squad which is why they did so many changes now we don't have money like him but it shows if you need to do the changes and new bodies you do it we messed about for month and then bring in what 2 players excluding loans which have not been that grat anyway. What an absurd comparison. I hope you're joking.

I don't think there would have been too many complaints if some players had left !!!! Haha! True. I was disappointed Bolton didn't take Mutch and Lee off our hands. Saying that we might have to end up using them if we get any more injuries. Edited by CambridgeEagle (01 Feb 2018 9.28am)

Absolutely pathetic window. Shambolic, disorganised, amateurish and feeble. Time will tell if the three "prospects" we have signed turn out good investments and that is what Freedman is here for. But we needed reasonably reliable reinforcements in some areas to be effective now and Hodgson said as much when interviewed on the matter. We have done absolutely nothing to address those requirements except let Lille and Getafe dick us about in the knowledge that we had no Plan B. And this is exactly what happened last time. Then we had no DoF and we had the excuse that de Boer was not contributing. No such excuses this time. I wouldn't be surprised if Hodgson followed Allardyce out the door now and we will have difficulty attracting any kind of manager in the future given the amateurish bodge we make of these important deals. I am now of the view that Parish needs to hand at least this aspect of running the club over to somebody competent and properly equipped to deal with it because he clearly isn't. Agree with all of this. Roy has been massively let down as have we as fans. Fed up of all the the Parish apologists. I am saying Parish as he is the front man and front and centre is where he wants to be. Shambolic last window only confounded by a doubly shambolic window this time round. There is a theme appearing here. All this with the "best recruitment environment we've ever had". This has seriously jeopardised our premier league safety now and potentially undone all Roys good work. Pathetic Palace

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Sums up this transfer window' by Midlands Eagle The window wasn't great, but, we got in a back up striker, which we needed. Sackho should be match fit in 3/4 games, which sorts our defence out and our midfield is pretty decent.
