To be honest Roy has done an outstanding job recently with what he's had available but there's only so many times we can continue putting out a patched up team and remain unbeaten, in fact it doesn't feel that surprising that we're finally getting a drubbing. Just beggars belief that yet again we're leaving our transfer activity until right at the last minute. As someone earlier in the thread said, if this doesn't give the powers that be a massive kick up the arse then nothing will.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

Balance has been the main problem today - looks like we have now made changes to it. All be it to late :-( Arsenal are playing as we know they can - shame they chose today to get it right again. I think we have been punching above our weight with this injury hit thin squad. Still been dreadful though which has surprised me? Perhaps we are seeing that the call for Sako to start again doesn’t work when we need to defend better against the better sides? Basically we need our injured defenders back and some new faces purchased? You are spot on, the squad strength has always been our weakness and it is now being highlighted by this performance. We need as Roy has already said at least 4 new signings in key positions and maybe more with our injury list, the problem is we seem to be unable to attract decent players who want to come and play for us why that is I do not know but Freedman and Parish do not seem to be able to get signings over the line which has to be a concern as we will almost certainly struggle with the current player we have available!

Wilshire is just sitting in acres of space about 8 yards outside of the penalty area and that is destroying us. Someone should be there, but both Luka and Cabaye seem to be ball watching. Zaha needs to help out more, given we are under the kosh. I think we may have come out expecting to ease into the game and Arsenal came out with a rocket up their a*ses. I think sometimes these things happen and it's hard to get going. It's a bit like when we beat them 3-0 last season. The second half will all depend if Arsenal take their foot off the throttle. If they go for the jugular they could still get more goals, if not we could still get a couple of consolation goals.

I wonder if it reflects how much work Andros and Jeff usually do defensively? Bakary and Wilf are not going to in the same way. Yes, you could well be right.

The most surprising aspect of our transfer dealing is that people are still surprised about it...

Whilst this is a fair point this defence got a fairly comfortable clean sheet against Burnley last week. Seem to always freeze up against Citeh, ManUre and the Arse away. COYP !!

Benteke's body language after not attacking that cross is appalling. Like a surly kid. Waster.

I don't know what everyone's freaking out about, it's just the classic "lull them into a false sense of security" tactic.

We have totally lost this game in the midfield. Not sure why but Cabaye, Mc and Luka look totally out of sorts today and Fosu-Mensa is being ripped apart at full back. A lot of what appear to be disinterested players. I just don't get it how we can go from playing so well to so poor in a short space of time, but I think we just have to put this down to a blip. Hopefully Roy will re-organise at half time and we see a better 2nd half. As some have already said, it emphasises the need to get some new players into the club. Wouldn't that be because the side midfielder that's supposed to help him is 300 pounds?

Terrible scoreline but let's face it, you don't really expect to get anything from away games against the top 6 sides. A point would have been a bonus. The games coming up against Wet Spam & Newcastle are where we have to pick up points.
any game can be won in the Prem so you always expect 1 point minimum.
