Yes, because if Manchester United had left it until then, Sanchez would have gone to his preferred destination Manchester City - I think that was your point? Sanchez got offered more money at utd, his preferred destination was whoever offered the most. Edited by steven_t92 (24 Jan 2018 11.45am)

This report says he has passed a medical and has agreed to join us in the summer but it is up to Palace if they want to give cash to bring the transfer fee forwards to now (Interestingly quotes 3.5 mill buyout as opposed to the over 4 mill quoted previously and the around 7 mill reported yesterday) [Link]

So pre contract agreed medical done but might not Join until next season if Getafe cut their noses off to spite their faces , that’s all well and good but what do we do about the new gk we need now ? I think its a matter of if Getafe want any money for him and according to reports at start of saga they need the money. One or both of Julian or Wayne will not be here next season so here is their replacement. We may be looking at a second keeper for now with money saved

That's a bit harsh and not really based on anything I’d say it’s about right though. No player historically would choose city over United. Only since they’ve become mega rich have they put themselves in a position to be a choice over United.

Edited by steven_t92 (24 Jan 2018 11.45am) Harsh, I am not sure it is true, and not relevant to the point I was trying to make. There is a ranking developing in the Premiership. Given a choice, Sanchez would have gone to Manchester City. Manchester City pulled out because it was too expensive. If Manchester United hadn't of stepped in then he would have gone to City in the Summer. It is more marked for Palace. By buying the right players in the last few months of their Contract, we get them, if we wait until the end of their Contracts there is a good chance we wont. I don't get this Sanchez - mercenary rubbish. If I ever get to be one of the best in my business sector, then I would go to someone who would pay me the highest salary. What is wrong with that?

City pulled out because Sanchez demanded too much, yes he is worth a lot but not what he asked for so Pep dropped the deal. Pogba has apparently already asked for his wages to be doubled to match Sanchez's. That sort of situation could've derailed City's season.

Looks well decent in his highlights reel. Puts to bed the old “no goalkeeper is saving that” bollocks that we’ve had to listen to for the past couple of seasons with some of the saves he’s pulled off.

Why should Sanchez go to City when they weren't willing to pay what Manchester United were? Manchester United knew they had to get him now, because other teams would be ahead of them in the summer if he was available on a free.

Which was my original point when someone suggested why not wait for Guaita in the summer instead of pay 8mil now.
