Another telling example of what we are talking about is from South Africa. The Sharpeville massacre of 69 people in 1960 is quite rightly regarded as a prime example of the oppressive nature of the then Apartheid government. Many expressions of disgust over it and demonstrations by the left then and now, many many articles, documentaries etc covering it, used in history lessons - quite right too, it should be highlighted.
But then in 2012, Jacob Zuma's corrupt regime shot dead 34 striking miners at Marikana. The left's response? Embarrassed silence and shrugging of shoulders (apart from the honourable exception of Peter Hain). Why? Because the left cannot be seen to criticise a black government in South Africa - the pretence that they are corrupt and worse has to be maintained purely for political reasons.

Seconded, while there are exceptions as you mentioned, it's an accurate observation and criticism of political tribalism.

As most of you no doubt realise my post should have read " Because the left cannot be seen to criticise a black government in South Africa - the pretence that they are not corrupt and worse has to be maintained purely for political reasons. "

Leftie Peter Tatchell tried to citizen arrest Robert Mugabe and has been a very vocal critic of him for donkeys years before he was ousted. And every BBC news programme has always been very forward in showing his corruption and crimes and failure for decades as leader.

Yes in 2012 it happened. The silence from the right-wing Tory majority coalition Government and Prime Minister Cameron was deafening. The Guardian picked up on the incident though to expose the police criminals [Link]

You must have missed all that

Is EU supporting Tory toff ad man Cameron meant to speak for the right?

The majority of Tory MPs aren't that right wing....apart from the EU...they just look out for property owners and the city and that's about it.

Don't be daft. The Conservative Party is a right-wing party. Just not right-wing enough for you.

Well, they are 'progressives' but nice to hear you disavow some left wing extremists.....still you were the one with the 'head in your hands' emoticon when I said antifa were nearly as bad as the far right.

A man is in court over teaching his dog a nazi salute for a joke.

That's how 'right wing' the Tory party is......that was SJW May's laws.

Yes, but what's the point in deluding yourself that The Conservative Party is not right-wing? Blair was not Left-wing enough for my liking and took the reins way too close to the centre and ended up chummying up to some horrible right-wing nasties but Labour itself was still of the left in essence even if watery and diluted.
