The difference with Wickham is that even when he doesn't score his movement, availability and hold up play is good. He gets into the right areas too, and draws defenders out to create space. Glad to have him back, really hope he stays fit.

I wonder how much the injury was preventing him, he needs a good cross to challenge for and today none happened while he was on, although he gets a lot of stick a lot of the balls towards him have been pretty crap haven't they ..I feel we will see a much improved player once he becomes match fit due to having no pain in his knee, for knowing there is pain he must have controlled his enthusiasm in the fear of making his knee worse and then needing an opp and long time out. Now it has been fixed and the results not too serious for him we just need to hope the service he gets goes nearer to his head.

Who would you start on Wednesday? Now that Wickham's goal tally is infinitely higher that Benteke's surely it's a no brainer?

The real plus out of this is that Wickham and Benteke will spur each other on....and that having a 'proper' striker on the pitch for every game will not only help Zaha and Townsend by distracting defenders but will also give us so much more tactical flexibility. Hodgson has so much experience with 4-4-2's, and all the subtle variations that formation allows, that he can really begin to mix it up a bit up front.
Winning isn't everything. Without the defeats we would not value the victories. Still, it's a shame we can't play Chelsea every week. |

I don't think Zaha would have hit the cross that led to the handball if it had been Ayew in the middle. Tekkers did well when he came on too, holding the ball up and bringing others into play. Two years is a long time and I think some people forget how good Wickham was starting to look prior to his injury. Nevertheless, I wouldn't start him Wednesday as he still doesn't look 100% and for me it would be a risk to put that strain on his body. As much as I know it will irritate some, I think Ayew will start on Wednesday, although if Bentenke is fit enough I would start him.

Well if Roy Hodgson is answering your question then it isnt Benteke or Wickham, as it is 100% Jordan Ayew. He just said as much in the post match comments, stating that he rested Ayew for this and wouldn't start Wickham in the league.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |
