Add Villa to that stat - the previous two runners up got relegated the following season - will we be the third on the trot? Edited by The Dolphin (23 Jan 2017 10.09am)

I thought that was pretty obvious, I don't think any football club owner in the world who had assembled the squad we have with the 16th highest wage bill in Europe would be stupid enough to be told by the manager he needed to rebuild. They were silly enough to spend 52mil on poor value, second quality players and look where it has landed us!

You do like swearing a lot. People who swear, rather than using reasoned argument, usually don't have the intelligence for reasoned argument. What's your excuse for swearing so much? To put your point across? (In which case you lose). Or is it because you don't have one? Or is it that you don't have the intelligence to put across a reasoned argument? So far all you have said is that you blame Alan Pardew for everything. And swear whilst doing it. Get a case for argument and you will get a reasoned response. Rant on, swear, and name calling will put you firmly in the *ignore* category. And the award for the most patronising post goes to, little Timmy

Yet they all came to us because they could not get regular first team football at their previous clubs, so clearly they were not good enough! Man u, Liverpool, Chelsea and PSG, benteke still had one of the best goals to games ratio, townsend was Newcastle best player last year, most on here were crying because dann wasn't getting an England cap and mcarthur would of been most fans best player.

There were those of us that were skeptical about our transfer activity, mainly with the players and positions that we didn't sign in, rather than the players that we did sign. Townsend heavily favouring the right side to replace the outgoing Bolasie showed a huge lack of foresight on Pardews part. That, along with not signing a backup left-back and selling our only recognised CDM. Pardew left us with an incredibly inflexible and imbalanced squad. Is it any coincidence that Allardyce's fist signing was Schlupp; a versatile left sided player?

Pardew deserves criticism and he is largely to blame for where we are. However peoples memories seem to have faded a bit over the past 12 months Last January we were limited with what we could spend due to FFP Even in the summer there was an element of that, hence the relatively low net outlay, the rest being taken up in wages. There were several reports (One I believe from Parish's mouth) that we missed out on a couple of players, a LB being one of them. Whether that's accurate or not who knows? So yes blame Pardew for not learning to shut games out etc. but transfers whether in or out, were not totally down to him

I'd be surprised if allardyce or the club had any intention of him staying past this season anyway. Edited by rikz (23 Jan 2017 12.21pm)

I think the 32 mil could have been spent much better than what we have got!
