Pardew deserved more than "a level" of criticism. He's wrecked the team. Well, the side was and is in decline. Delaney is what? 35 now? Jedinak was 32, which was old for a midfield player. Pardew was still transitioning the side to the attacking passing style and buying the players for it. He has a style 'good' players want to join. We weren't in the bottom three and we were competing in matches and scoring. The board lost their nerve. Edited by Stirlingsays (21 Jan 2017 5.29pm)

Think today was encouraging if I'm honest, yes we lost but like others said it was when we went down to 10 men it's disappointing we didn't get the draw we deserved but I do think with a few new signings and wilf back we might just start to turn things around.

Club's fortunes are based upon the football season, not a selective one. Pardew was also responsible for the very good start to that season....So are you going to praise him for that? Pardew kept us in the Premiership and played attacking football that kept people coming and believing. Big Sam is a backward step for this club....We now play like...what reminds me of a FA cup match where a championship side try to play direct against premiership clubs hoping to nick a goal in a one nil. This is very much a backward step. A necessary backward step as I have no doubt we would have gone down under Pardew. The problem is that the change might have come too late and the board forced to look short term. Come on Stirling, stylish of not, Pardew's method was not working.
Most certainly not European. |

Why? He was off the pitch and could receive treatment. No he wasn't, got back on the pitch and was getting treatment on the pitch. Ref shouldn't have stopped it while in play, but then the ball went off and he let them take a throw on which they went on to score from. Should gave stopped the fane when the ball went off.

I've read up on him, I feel a bit bad about the joke now. Billy Calender, with us for nearly 10 years, 202 appearances, sorry Billy. Edited by boo909 (21 Jan 2017 5.38pm)

Just seen the score after trying to sleep off my hangover from last night. No real surprise to see the score. Yes, Pardew had to go but Allardyce was totally the wrong man for this team. I really think we are going down. But on the bright side, my hangover seems to have subsided. Time to start drinking again to drown my sorrows over yet another terrible result.

If you are scoring goals then you are going to win the odd game. I just don't see the direct/long ball style working with this pool of players. We desperately need Zaha back and for him to stay fit.....Without him as the attacking outlet we are going down for certain in my book.

Promising! Get Remy up front with Benteke. Schlup had the build/power we need. Get Wilf and Sako back. Get a Left Back NOW. ...and we have a squad that will not just stay up but climb away from the bottom three.
First match 5th October 1974 - not a good day! |

Edited by Stirlingsays (21 Jan 2017 5.29pm) Let's be honest here Pardew was probably in the only club in the EFL with a board who would back him over 2016.

Pardew was never in the bottom three and has never been relegated playing his style. All this selective stuff is very one eyed.
