I know. I am just saying by its own admission it is not all-encompassing. Even they can't say all DOO trains would be safe so neither can you nor I.

There are no merits to privatising anything related to a countries infrastructure. Taking profits to pay dividends to speculators is just bonkers.

Graylings suggestion that Network Rail and the Train companies get together to discuss maintenance problems etc was part of this mornings announcement and was rejected out of hand too.

Grayling also confirmed that his announcement had nothing to do with privatisation of Network Rail (NR) or any suggestion of it.

What he said was NR are inundated with work at the moment so he has sanctioned a private contractor to upgrade an old ex Beeching cut BR line on the east coast to speed up improvements to service in that region. The line work is self contained and any work necessary to connect it up with existing track will be carried out by NR.

So.... yet again Unions stirring up sh1t to get the gullible public onside.

Ah, do you mean the "independent" rail safety body whose Directors include none other than "Charles Horton, Chief Executive Officer, Govia Thameslink Railway Ltd".

Not exactly independent is it?

Dept. of Transport appoints the committee members too. Having said that it is non-ministerial so does have supposed independence.

It is accepted by all those that matter as Independent.

Why have you only cited one person?

Bodies of this sort canvass opinion from all stakeholders involved in the industry and you would expect someone of Charles Horton's ilk to be involved.

When the RMT sit down and discuss policy do you think they have a politically neutral bias, or are they all lefties?

If you can show that the rail safety body is unduly biased and has come to the wrong conclusion I will take your post seriously.

Otherwise I will overlook it as guff.

These names mean nothing to me.

I see their decisions are audited though but I'll guess you'll throw suspicions of bias at the auditors too?

Not bad 7.5/10.

Had to put you right about DOO trains and your 1975 vote but you can't be expected to remember or know everything.

I love the way that reportsfrom independent bodies about brexit being bad are nonsense and to be taken with a pinch of salt yet anyone questions the rail report they are thick.

Double standards methinks.

Oh come on hoof, you linked to the findings of a so called independent body re safety. Whatever side of the argument you sympathise with, in no way can the body be called independent when at least one member has a conflict of interests.
