Firstly, Fabric shutting down affects a fair amount of our support as well as the HF, why aren't they allowed to put a banner up? No one's stopping you from doing the same. Secondly, bemoaning the banner when there have been loads made. Clearly no one remembers the banner when 7 lads in Croydon got stabbed in as many days, and they called on the council to sort it out. But yeah, what a s***e message that is, and they only stick up fot the youth. Edited by Dan1994 (23 Sep 2016 10.58am) I think all banners that aren't related to Palace are crap.... but if I had support for any of them then one calling for Croydon Council to take action over 7 stabbings might get my support but I would favour one calling for the Police to take action as surely they are better suited to the task than the Council? Maybe the HF ought to run their banner strategy by me first as I seem to have my finger on the pulse of what might be acceptable at Selhurst than they have?

Can someone please explain to me what the HF think will happen because they held a piece of fabric up with save fabric on?

Do you know what proportion of the crowd the 18-25 age group is? I don't... but I'll take an educated guess that it's less than 20%. Maybe you should remember that a cross section of our society go to watch Palace across all ages and social groups. Of that 20% I mentioned above, probably less than 10% of them would be likely to go to Fabric, so we're actually talking about 2% of the Selhurst crowd being interested or concerned about that particular cause. You ask what the 'Older Generation' do for fun? Well part of it is following the club you have loved and supported for 50+ years and to be able to watch them win 4-1 at home at a canter without having to have some political demonstrations imposed upon us when all we want to do is celebrate. I've never played bingo in my life nor intend to start so you'll have to think of another pastime associated with the elderly to try and undermine my argument. All you are doing is burdening the rest of us with your sad disappointment about your precious club closing... as you get older you'll learn to overcome what life throws at you and bounce back... but you won't if you just dwell on the misery. I understand what you're saying. However, what I don't understand is why the banner upsets you so much? How is it "burdening" you? Why would the view represent the whole of the club? The banner wasn't waved through the streets among the masses.. it was brought out by an easily identifiable group of young men.. Anybody who follows premier league football are probably aware of the HF. So lets hop back over to your statistical analysis. What percentage would you say acknowledge that the HF are an independent entity that follow the club, and do not identify as official club spokesmen? I'd say 80% at least.. Let them wave a banner, why don't you bring your own saying "I just want to watch the football, f*#k fabric" (or words of your own choosing to that affect) to WH @ home? Why don't you tell me what you do for fun then? Drink in the Clifton Arms? What if the council were going to shut down your favourite matchday pub that you've been visiting for years!! To many young people, Fabric isn't just a nightclub. It is to do with youth culture. It's part of their identity. I don't see how waving a bedsheet with some paint on is really that traumatizing lol.. Edited by CJr94 (23 Sep 2016 11.48am)

Bring awareness to the cause. Lol ok. The fact it's been in the newspapers and on the news would surely help more. I'm sure the police and council will think differently about it now the HF have got involved...

Back to the point of the thread, why did said HF member get upset that he was on camera then?

As for the publicity part, I've only seen their little banner mentioned on here and mainly just people taking the piss. Seems very pointless to me. Did they really expect Sky to show the banner?

But on a general note there are pubs and clubs closing down all over the place, up and down the country, in croydon loads have gone. I am not old but can't help think just find another club , if your with mates having it large it doesn't really matter where you are. Edited by Michaelawt85 (23 Sep 2016 12.07pm)

Did they really expect Sky to show the banner? The banner was shown though?? and it was posted by Billboard (I think) on facebook and got masses of likes and shares. "Pointless" - that all falls down to your view on the overall topic. Assume you couldn't care less. That's just like me, I don't care either if they shut it down. To them, it isn't pointless. To them, it is a worthy cause. Looking at the momentum behind the overall "Save Fabric" campaign.. I'd say that a lot of people agree with them.

Don't get me wrong, I couldn't care less about Fabric. Too dark, too trippy.. don't like it anyway so it's no loss to me. As I said before to them it's about culture. Fabric as a brand represents them. In essence, it doesn't matter why they put a banner up.. Why are people upset? I've not actually had a response to that.
