It's only because we have been strongly linked with benteke, who I would argue is the better striker for our system, that I would question his signing. We struggled to incorporate gayle, even though I still really rated him, and even though Saido is a better striker than dwight, would we not struggle in the same way? Even with Berahino onboard we would still have only 2 strikers, so fantasy football gone crazy, it must be Benteke (or a similar player to him like Babacar) and Berahino (I'm dreaming on...!)

To be honest I'm a little concerned if we pay £20 million for Berahino. Don't get me wrong he is a talented striker but I don't think he is suitable long term. I can see a fall out with Pardew because he is not starting every week and before you know it we have a £20 million player playing for the reserves because he has upset the main man.hopefully this is just a smoke screen and we don't pay £20 million for a player who can leave for free next year. Knowing Palace we will surprise everyone and see a photo of Slimani holding up a palace shirt after beating all the big boys for his signature.

And top players worth that sort of money (And less) are attracted to clubs far more "Sexy" than we are. What i find strange is that Pardew is looking to change our style of play and Benteke was his no1 target Berahino is nothing like Benteke who is a mountain. So i feel Berahino is either a pawn into making Liverpool/Benteke get a deal done or we are going for second best. Am not sure a rate Bearhino as a £20m player worth £100k a week.

His contract on offer is only 50K so wages may not be issue. I think we could play him as a number 10 because unlike Gayle he does do other things than score

And second best is still unlikely to come to Palace. So realistically (not negatively), we will end up with third best for £20 million and four best on loan.
