The atheists who use condescending phrases to disparage christian beliefs are quite rude and would probably help themselves by being a little more respectful of others' viewpoint. Don't agree but by using terms like 'spagghetti monster,' 'sky fairy' and other cliched phrases its causing antagonism and reflects badly on your own position and argument. Ironically, that has its origins in Robert Anton Wilson, who whilst not a Christian, was certainly a believer in the mystical and preternatural - and a life long agnostic - Originally it was used to debunk not belief, but the idea of the certainty of rationalism as professed by James Randi etc. But usually used by, mainly, atheists on the hol, alongside terms such as sky fairies, in a condescending tone to be disrespectful to those who have a christian, or other, faith. ''What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence'' And so the sky fairy is born. The day a single shred of proper evidence is offered up is also the day religion will get more than a bit of eyeball rolling from me. Until that day it is a work of fiction & deserves a place alongside such mythological nonsense as Minotaurs & Chupacabra's.
That's if you really want to find it. Which you don't. Firstly, its of the possibility of a god, not a specific god. Its a classic strawman, you cannot disprove the existence of something in a metaphysical argument (or prove it absolutely), you can only attest to critically assess the values associated. So you can definitely prove the possibility of the existence of god, provided you don't attempt to critically demonstrate that god in relation to specific attributes - such as proving the existence of the God of the Bible as presented by, say Catholicsm. Its very easy to demonstrate the possibility of something, that isn't evidence. Evidence requires that you present a hypothesis that is more probable than a null hypothesis (ie you have to demonstrate that its more probable that 'a Christian god' of the bible exists, than doesn't. And that is an entirely different matter.

Reborn, The principle of a good god & his benevolence is worthy and great, but he seems to be in another room.
PS Taking the insults and goading are just part of the gig, and will never get a rise. Hoof and cohorts should realise that.
You were funny as fcuk mate and I enjoyed your participation in a debate. Now I feel a bit like 'Chief' at the end of 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest'.
Parchmore... I'm afraid you're just a religious nutter. Posting rambling nonsense from other religious nutters isn't helping your cause. Why do you people even want a bloody God? The people who go to church and get something out of, feel a bit closer to society - well good on them as long as they don't try and drag me in. Parchmore you actually do more damage to those types of people with your over the top attempted evangelism. No one KNOWS if there is a God. Linking to someone's youtube clip who says he does is not evidence.
You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name. |

Linking to someone's youtube clip who says he does is not evidence. Even in that post, his argument isn't really that he knows in any non-subjective empirical or testable way (ie one that can be claimed scientifically), its a philosophical semantic argument, that avoids the metaphysical attribution and definition of a god. So it doesn't even present the possibility of a specific god, only an entity that could be defined as a god, possibly existing, without specification that its a specific god associated with traits defined by a specific religion.

What's he doing in hell. You think the almighty would be able to determine whether or not some one is due to shuffle off their mortal coil. This all pangs of a system where god is dead and the systems just been left running and no one is in control.
