Trump launching Truth Social is like Harold Shipman heading Help the Aged. Still, Based on the support he has, if Trump is deadset on become the GOP candidate it's difficult to look past him. It then comes down to how much support he has lost, as it's hard to see how he can match his previous performance. It would likely be Trump vs Harris really, as I can't imagine that Biden will be able to serve a further four years (he'll possibly struggle to get to the end of this term!). The state of the economy in 2024 will probably be key to who gets in. If everything has gone to sh!t due to the pandemic that will count against Dems. If there the start of a recovery phase, possibly the opposite. The money spent or lost on the pandemic is nothing to what he's giving away; alongside job losses and the 'new green spend' which is going to affect all of us.

US Navy names ship after Gay Rights activist. This week their marines got trounced by our marines in war games leading to complains that the military is more interested in PC than in a competent fighting force. Naming warships is about sending a message to your enemies e.g. HMS Conqueror or The Defiant. It's also about military leaders or war time leaders e.g. Eisenhower, the US Navy even has a "Churchill" in honour of our man. What kind of message does the USNS Harvey Milk send? It's not that he is gay so was Alexander The Great and Julius Caesar but he is not noted for his military prowess he was an activist / politician. I bet the Russians are quaking in their boots. I wonder what the Russian term for "Kill all Americans" I expect they have a ship named after it.

I wonder what the Russian term for "Kill all Americans" I expect they have a ship named after it. I doubt Russians are ever quaking due to America, since they can readily buy influence in the States, and pick at divisions online and off, rather than ever seriously entertain that there will be significant military conflict between the two countries. The naming as US navy ships has often been a middle finger to political opposites rather than a message to the wider world (which pretty much speaks to failings of the american mindset). There are ships names after confederate battles, segregationists, civil rights leaders.. Edited by BlueJay (07 Nov 2021 4.24pm)
